Superman Returns Sequal

Discuss the Superman movie franchise.

I know theres a lot of people that didnt like Returns but theres also a lot that did I'm in the group that did. I think Brandon Routh was a great choice for Clark Kent/Superman and I love that they used the origional Superman score by John Williams and. I keep hearing rumblings that the sequal is being written now and Bryan Singer will be back then I hear that WB will be doing a complete reboot. I personally would like to see Bryan get another shot at Superman and see Brandon become the new face of Superman like Chris Reeve was when I was growing up. Maybe they could do the sequal and then go back and do a reboot as a set of prequals for Returns. How many others out there are huge Superman fans like me and what would you like to see done with the franchise?

The Superman character is yesterday's news. He has no flaws, character or physical, which makes him incredibly boring and has the lamest villains, which is suprising considering his long history. You can only make so many movies with Lex Luthor and kryptonite. At least bring Braniac into the equation instead of remaking the movies from the 1970's.

To top it off you have to possess the most incredible suspension of disbelief when his Clark Kent disguise consists of eyeglasses and his hair combed a different way. Kinda the reason why Wonder Woman isn't being done anytime soon. The horn rimmed glasses just ain't good enough. What that equals to is shallow movies and lousy box office because you can only go so far putting the Man of Steel in peril that's actually beleivable without using the aforementioned kryptonite crutch.

Couldn't get into Superman returns after the first fourty five minutes so I decided to turn it off instead of investing 2 hours and 40 minutes into a superhero movie. I don't know what it was but I really disliked the tone of the movie more than anything else.

Seriously,though, I thought Returns was well done, but I do agree that he has the lamest villians. Maybe a not heretofore seen villian is needed?

I happened to like Returns quite a bit as a good chunk of it tried to capture the feel of the Richard Donner film. I think I heard that the sequel will have a ton similar to the All-Star Superman comics. (which I haven't read)

Loved Returns. What the sequel needs is action and I think it'll only take one Brain Interactive Construct to fulfill that need.

What I really want to see though, maybe some day, is this certain badass New God. Ya know. Darkseid.

In the first season of The Wire, Omar is robbing a random crew who immediately runs into the stash house. Omar stands at the door and says "Omar can come back tomorrow. And the next day. But if you make me come back, I'll put a bullet in all of you behind what happened today." They reply with "You best roll out. We up in here with a Mac 10" to which Omar tells them "I thinks not Terrell. I thinks not." Then they drop the stash.

The working title as of now is Superman Man Of Steel. Bryan Singer says he's going all Wrath Of Kahn on this one. Which leaves me to believe that there will be a really badass villian that will cause lots of death and destruction. Maybe Brainiac, Darkseid or both.
