That is definitely possible, personally I do not see this charles character sticking around for a long time, he just doesnt seem to fit in with the show.

So I may have lost something but it seemed like Jim's position as number 2 didn't really exist. But in prior episodes there was mention that it came with a pay raise, not to mention that he ran the office during "Survivor Man". So that part was a little confusing to me. He is the "Assistant Regional Manager" and has been since the merger correct?

It was all made up by Michael. In corporate's eyes, there was no such position.

What a brilliant episode. I'm more intrigued and I certainly didn't see that ending coming. WOW.

Maybe i'm remembering wrong but Jim got that position when Scranton merged with the other branch. Wasnt Jim's position assistant regional manager at the other brancH?

I thought Wallace gave him that position as being the #2. I can't remember, but swore Wallace talked to him about it when he came back to Scranton.

Great episode though, really set up some stuff for later on.

According to wikipedia:

"Things begin to look up for Jim as he befriends salesperson Karen Filippelli, and when the company board of directors decides to close the Scranton branch, Jim is named Assistant Regional Manager of the newly created "Dunder Mifflin Northeast"."

Jim was named ARM when the merger was announced by the old Scranton boss.

I think this was just a continuity error by the writers. Things like that happen after 5 seasons.

I cant remember his name, but remember when the old boss from where Karen and Jim worked was gonna get the promotion from Jan, but he leveraged that into the a job elsewhere? Jan got all frazzled and offered it to Jim.

Was I the only one that found Michael s behavior severely over the top?

When this show first started I thought it was brilliant. Michael wasn't an idiot in the traditional sense, but more of a social moron.
I thought Steve Carols portrayal of Michael Scott reflected the British version perfectly.
But since season 2 the character has changed drastically.
He's turned into a complete bumbling idiot with no brains.

That whole thing where he was imitating his boss like a 5-year-old was ridiculous.

I wish they would go back to how he was earlier. It's probably the reason why I haven't watched more than 6 full episodes in the past 2 seasons.

Did you watch the entire episode?

I thought his behavior towards the end was perfect. Spot on with his character. The end conversation with David was brilliant.

Just saw the synopsis for the next episode. I read a spoiler.
