I agree and disagree. I agree that it was too much and also got tired of the "Freak of the week" in the first couple seasons. But I think the "teen angst stuff" was somewhat necessary in really convincing us they were teenagers before superheroes. And I doubt if they had stuck to this path that it wouldn't have lasted as long as it has. But all that garbage and lack of following the real story line has made quite a few episodes painful to watch.

Re: Smallville Season 8
The now powerless Martian Manhunter was a welcome addition to a rather flat episode that including the so far ho hum Doomsday Light. I like the way they sneaked in MM as now detective John Jones (J'onn J'onzz). The big news came in the previews as the show hinted at a Superman Coming Out Party with what looked like a red caped Clark standing on top of a building. The rest of the costume looked like blue jeans and a blue jacket. In the previews Chloe exclaims, "It's Time!!".
Very good Martian Manhunter talk to Clark at the end of the episode, which brought up, among other things, the need for Clark to be more careful about protecting his secret. "Identity" is the name of the episode which possibly shows Clark in a cape.
PS-I missed Lois.Comment

SpoilerI'm hoping I'm wrong, but I bet its some BS with Oliver pretending to be "Supes", just like when Clark pretended to be Green Arrow.

Re: Smallville Season 8
Terrific episode. The continued great chemistry between Clark & Lois and finally the Superman light at the end of the tunnel are making this season fun to watch. Not to be overlooked is Clark's very good relationships with Martian Manhunter, Ollie, Chloe & Jimmy.Comment

This last episode was one of my top five favorites of the series. A lot of interesting story arcs were put in play, or accelerated in this one.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Re: Smallville Season 8
Interesting turn of events, that will change the dynamic of the show assuming Chloe doesn't find out again. I wonder if Doomsday will be beaten in the next 1 or 2 episodes or if the story arc will go on until this season's conclusion? I included a YouTube of Chloe's "discovery" back in February of 2005, which is at the top of my list of pivotal Smallville episodes.

Re: Smallville Season 8
THE GOOD-I actually look forward to this series every week. They tried a little "Cloverfield" with Doomsday tonight, but the strength of the show are the characters.
The BAD-No more new episodes for 8 weeks.
Observation-Am I the only one that watches this show?Comment

I think Smallville has really taken the Superman mythos in a new direction without straying too far from what the story really is. I wish the makers of the movies would follow this trend. I think Smallville's Clark/Superman is hitting that "darkness" in a character that so many people seem to want Superman to have with out actually being a dark hero. He is more confused. Sorry I know I rambled there.
Its time for him to learn to fly.Comment

Re: Smallville Season 8
I can't believe we have to wait so long after that episode. **** IT'S DOOMSDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's also the first-ever LIVE-ACTION appearance for him so I have to give them major props. I must admit at first I was skeptical about them bringing in Doomsday at this point of Clark's life but the way they've handled him has been very well done. I can't wait for January.
One more time................
**** THAT WAS AWESOME!
SpoilerLEXXXXXXXXXXX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At least that's the consensus among people right now. They need to bring back Rosenbaum for a few episodes. This season is on a roll! How I wish this were the case in seasons past.Last edited by Leon; 11-21-2008, 04:09 PM.Comment
