I still think if you're going big name, Johnny Depp is the answer.

But after the initial shock of reading that, and then seeing everyone's posts about it, it could work, I suppose.

I think that's kind of why I don't want Johnny Depp. A heartthrob like that just doesn't seem like he would come off as villainous, insane, or as I noted being wiser with age and perhaps old school tactics (not too technologically savvy for his own good like Batman is).

Heath Ledger was a heartthrob too and look what he did with it. I think Depp would be perfect for the Riddler but after some of the posts in here i could see Williams in the role. At first i was like "they want Patch Adams to play the riddler in a serious way, not a chance" but like you guys have said RW has proven his ability to play a diverse range of characters quite well so he could pull it off.

Robin Williams in One Hour Photo is still one of the creepiest single roles I've ever watched. I rarely ever feel...disgusted...at a single character, but watching that movie made me really uncomfortable.

Most "horror" movies...the bad guy is so unbelievable that it doesn't worry me...Robin Williams creeped the **** out of me, so if he could pull that off again I'd love it.

While I'm still not entirely sold on Robin Williams as The Riddler, at this point I'm just going to trust whatever Nolan wants to do. He's earned the trust, I think.

Off topic but can he be trusted with Superman as well? I am just wondering. He has done great by giving a dark Batman, but I am scared he may carry some of that darkness over to The Man Of Steel. I could see him using Superman as a single point of light in a world of darkness and doom. Okay back on topic. The more I think about RW doing this the more I like the idea.

Re: Batman 3 news and rumors.

I have no doubt that Williams would make a good Riddler if done right but Nolan won't go with him if simply because he made his lobbying public and showed Nolan up. If Nolan gave him the role then any other movie he made would have every actor publicly telling him who to cast. That's a big no no in the industry. Don't use the media to pressure a director. If he had any chance it's gone now.

Reminds me of the time Sean Young kept lobbying Tim Burton for the Catwoman role they gave to Michelle Pffiefer (sp?). She would even go on talk shows dressed in a catwoman oufit pretty much begging for the role. Needless to say she didn't get it and her career took a severe downfall soon afterwards partly because of this no doubt.

I wanted him to play that part instead of Jim C. I think even at his age he would be a very good Riddler.

He was really scary in that movie. I can't even watch it. That role made me think he was not playing with a full deck, but the guy is so funny. His stand up was classic. The kid going to the chicken coop bit still has me rolling. Or he has a dream one day of one of his kids will be accepting a Nobel Peace prize, and his other one would be saying "would you like fries with that" When it came to a dream about jobs they would have.

I don't know. I like Robin, but deep down, I'd LOVE to see Jim Carey play that part again, only having it with the darkness and stuff. I guess I'm just the weird one in here.

After the 90 or so minutes of homoerotic flamboyance that was Carrey's last Riddler performance, I want him nowhere near that part.

Might not be fair, but it's just the way I feel.

the chris nolan batman films have been more drama than popcorn comic movies. while Johnny Depp is a wonderful character actor I think the last time he had a dramatic role was in Donnie Brasco. I'm not sure I want to see jack sparrow, ichabod crane, sweeney todd, the madd hatter, or willie wonka in the next batman movie. or the corpse bride's husband for that matter.
