    Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Really liked the few shots of Heath Ledger. I hope that we get a "Making Of" of all of Nolan's Bat-films, especially TDK, someday. I'm sure that's highly unlikely though.

Looking at the shots and comparing Burton to Nolan is hilarious. Burton looks like one of Penguins goons and then there is all business Nolan wearing a shirt and jacket in every shot.

'The Dark Knight' Trilogy IMAX re-release

You only have a couple more hours to consider making a ticket purchase, if you're interested!

‘The Dark Knight’ Trilogy Returning to IMAX Screens in 70mm for Special Engagement

All three of Christopher Nolan’s Batman films starring Christian Bale, a.k.a. “The Dark Knight” trilogy, are returning to IMAX screens and on 70mm film for a five-city, special engagement starting at the end of the month, Warner Bros.’ president of domestic distribution Jeff Goldstein announced Tuesday.

The first stop on the tour will take place on March 30 at the Universal Cinema AMC at CityWalk Hollywood. Warner Bros. will screen 2005’s “Batman Begins,” 2008’s “The Dark Knight” and 2012’s “The Dark Knight Rises” back-to-back-to-back. Then between the second and third films, Nolan will join the audience for a moderated Q&A discussion on the movies.

On April 13, the trilogy will screen at AMC Lincoln Square in New York City and AMC Metreon in San Francisco, followed by Cinesphere Ontario Place, Toronto, and IMAX Theatre at the Indiana State Museum, Indianapolis, on April 20. Each of the subsequent screenings will be accompanied by the footage of Nolan’s Los Angeles Q&A.

The films will screen on IMAX 70mm in all five cities. Nolan used IMAX cameras to shoot both “The Dark Knight” and “The Dark Knight Rises.”

“Christopher Nolan broke new ground with the ‘Dark Knight’ trilogy, and this is a rare chance for today’s audiences to experience these extraordinary films as they were meant to be seen,” Goldstein said in a statement. “To have the added privilege of hearing Chris’s insights firsthand makes this a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

Tickets for all events will go on sale Wednesday at 9 a.m. PT, and moviegoers who acquire tickets for all three films will receive a lanyard and special “Dark Knight” trilogy collectible.

They're doing it for the 80th Anniversary of Batman, by the way. The article doesn't mention that.

Thanks, didn't know that at first. I noticed once I went to the AMC website though haha.

Tickets are $80. Incredulous. I still bought one and got prime seating, but we'll see if I end up keeping it. If someone offers up $100 for it or something, I just might lend it over. The other thing I have to remember is that parking is like another $5 an hour in the public parking places in the city.

Still, it'll be an experience to relive!

              Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I went and saw this yesterday. It was... better than anything. So glorious to watch all three together in IMAX! Got two cool souvenirs: an itinerary badge and a thick metallic batarang encased in its own little box. The audience totally ate up the entire experience. My issue though was the person on my right of me wasn't deodorized for eleven frickin' hours, and the person to my left was mouthing every line and gesture as or before it happened. Not to say I didn't know the cues as well lol especially with TDK, but I don't have to "show it off" to enjoy myself.

I'm finally going to confirm my criticisms of TDK and TDKR, though. TDK falls off drastically once Dent becomes Two-Face (not necessarily "because of that," but that's just the time frame when I get a little zonkered from the film's experience), and TDKR hits a huge tonal disconnection from the moment Bane begins his revolution (blowing up the stadium and such) till the final fight. Outside of the unrealistic aspects of it, honestly, I think a lot of it has to do with the music just playing the entire time. I can't explain it. Batman Begins has a great decent pacing, but I think from the first moment he does Batman-like things getting intel from Gordon to the point he actually puts on the full costume, it seems really sudden that he is already "that good" at it. I know he trained, but given the equipment and the encounter type it was really immediate. The rest? Good stuff.

                Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Every time I watch this trilogy it's bitter sweet for me. I love the movies so much, but knowing Heath is gone, and knowing that Christian Bale will never be Batman again make them hard to watch.
