        Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Took advantage of Best Buy's deal in its ad yesterday and picked up Batman Begins and The Dark Knight on Blu-Ray for a total of $10. Also received $10 in coupons towards admission to this week's movie.

Due to work, I'm probably going to have to wait until Sunday to see this. I will be staying far away from this thread until after I see the film. Enjoy it, everyone!

Friday can't get here fast enough for me. Reading a few reviews this will be awesome and many have said that this is closer to batman begins than TDK which is fine by me.

Fine by me also. In fact, in order for a trilogy to work so well, you almost HAVE to link the third film with the first. It allows the trilogy to come full circle.

I personally will enjoy hearing the references from BB.

Do you still plan on facing a sizeable crowd? I'm thinking of going around the same time (Friday, daytime) but I was just curious as to what to expect. Are you ordering in advance?

I'd grab tickets now if you can.

It's summer, there's no school or anything to keep the swarms of kids/teens from going to early shows as well.

I have tickets for a regular theater at midnight and then tickets to an afternoon show at IMAX Saturday. I plan on arriving hours early for both.

                    Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I called a few places close to me for Friday/Saturday night...sold out already. I wanted the VIP seats at this one theater and they basically laughed...nothing all opening weekend in that section. Considering there are parts of the movie filmed in Pittsburgh and at Heinz Field, I'm not really surprised as some people in this area will go just because of that (with no interest in the rest of the movie).

I'm going with my wife and sister-in-law on Sunday night. That's the earliest we can all get there. Pretty excited though.

I believe that since people from pittsburgh arent to bright, no offense btw..... And what theater do you go to that has VIP seating? Never heard of that. Whats different about it?

                        Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Two reviewers decided to call it "rotten," for whatever reason. One is a top critic. I wonder if they're okay with the death threats that they'll be receiving from the RT community.

I do secretly hope this film surpasses The Dark Knight on an overall acceptance scale. Why would anyone hope for a sequel to be inferior, after all? If anybody here is reading reviews or review summaries, are any of them predicting possible Oscar nominations?

EDIT: One rotten review was removed for some reason. The first one, in fact (not the top critic, however). I wonder if the reviewer was just trolling.

Its too early to talk Oscars. Heath winning for TDK is enough for me, personally.

A lot of the reviews apparently contain spoilers so be warned.

Undoubtedly so, but if someone decides to chant that way for this film, it probably speaks well for its emotional depth, strong writing, and great characters. I would just like to know that's what we're looking at here.

Yup, I'm not reading a single review. This is why I was hoping somebody who was reading reviews would just mention Oscar talk if they saw any.

I can't believe we're still four days away! This wait is killing me... not because I can't bear the wait itself, but I have a feeling I'm going to inadvertently run into a spoiler before then!

I only read through the snippets RT posts, came to this one (not a Spoiler but I'll put it in Spoilers for people who don't want to read it) and was pleased. Sounds good - lots of comments about the amount of action.

I will not hesitate to punch any person who dares try to spoil this movie for me.

And I'm already calling it, The Dark Knight Rises will be in the running for Best Picture. The whole reason why they expanded the number of films per category is because of The Dark Knight anyway.
