It's the mob mentality when stuff like this happens. Normally, 1 or 2 of those people wouldn't have done it because common sense and personal responsibility would prevent it but throw in an extra 50 or 100 and social dynamics change...

I think these guys watched too much television.

The positive from this story is that the idiots killed themselves and no innocent people were hurt. Good riddance. Anyone ignorant enough to bring a gun into a Toys R Us,then decide to use it doesn't need to be part of the human race any longer. I feel bad for any kids that saw this madness.

As far as the Wal-Mart killing, they should have video tape of the greedy selfish waste of life trampling this poor man to death. They should all be charged with murder. The video tape of the medics trying to save this man is sad. The ignorant a$$ that makes the stupid comments about mouth to mouth pisses me off.

Other workers were trampled as they tried to rescue the man, and customers stepped over him and became irate when officials said the store was closing because of the death, police and witnesses said.
"When they were saying they had to leave, that an employee got killed, people were yelling `I've been on line since yesterday morning,'" she said. "They kept shopping."
Our society is lost in a materialistic haze.

This is pathetic- I moved out to Long Island a few years back and I'm not surprised that it happened there. I haven't been further west than Arizona so I haven't explored California, but I've never seen a more self-centered, materialistic segment of society. These people drive like they're on the way to the ER constantly and have no patience for anything.

Listen, I love a good sale as much as anybody. Is a person's health (and LIFE) worth running to grab that hot new TV? I just hope that the guilt that these scumbags will carry with them for the rest of their lives will be enough punishment because I seriously doubt anybody specific will be found on the tapes.

We have people dying all around the globe from machine gun fire, grenades, and several other disastrous consequences. We have people here dying in a rush to get into a department store... pathetic... What does that say about us?

I'm sorry, I just... I understand the situation, but...

On a side note, when I was walking out of Fry's, two paramedics were rushing in with a stretcher. I guess something happened in the store that wasn't a gun shot (I'm guessing I would have heard that). Didn't bother to check it out, though. I'm guessing it would have made the news if somebody died, so I suppose it's safe to say that didn't happen.

Pathetic. I work retail at a small-chained computer store (MicroCenter), we give out vouchers and only file people in 10-15 at a time to prevent this stuff.

The deals are really not that good. Another poster said 22 inch TV with DVD for $300, good deal... I suppose. What brand?

We were putting mega-deals on Spectre HD TVs, knock yourself out if you want a 32 inch Spectre for $350.

Most of the "deals" are on high-margin, ****ty items anyway.

I totally blame the store manager and his or her assistant managers. A couple of simple organized procedures could have been implemented and this tragedy could have been avoided.

Common sense tells you 2000 people coming through an 8 foot door all at one time is a recipe for disaster.

How do you expect a majority of people to give a crap about the birthday of a guy that they curse everyday?

This is even happening up here. The retail store my mother works at had a fight where some guys were pushing an old lady to get some stuff. Security had to come in and bust up the commotion.

Agreed.. The "I need, have to have" motto replaces any human decency during the holidays..

It's too bad we can't use the security tapes and have all those people arrested for murder.

And Wal-Mart wonders why only white trash go there to shop...

They are checking the security tapes to go after those guilty of "rushing in".

The problem with this WalMart is that it is the closest to the city (none in the city due to some sort of law or code), and everyone flocked to that store.
