Re: 2012 Movie
Trailer looks good, but scary at the same time. Only 3 years until 2012. Didn't the Mayans or somebody predict the end of the world in the year 2012?Redskins, Lakers, Orioles, UNC Basketball , and ND Football

John Cusack is in it, instant watch for me.
And how many people are going to think this is 2001 and 2010's sequel? LOLComment

Re: 2012 Movie
Their Long Count calendar ends in December 2012. Some people are running around with the theory that the apocalypse is coming at that time, but IIRC the Mayans believed an Enlightenment would occur.

I love these apocalyptic type movies, so I will be seeing it. Can't say I really believe the world will end in 2012. It could end tomorrow, we will never know.Eagles, 76ers, Phillies, Arsenal FC, Wildcats, Vols

Re: 2012 Movie
Could be entertaining but I'm not sure where they're gonna go with it exactly. Might just end up having some stupid plot twist and it'll be no good.
As for the subject matter...just like it was supposed to end Jan. 1st,2000 right? or sometime in 2002 cause of 9/11 right? or June 6th,2006 right? or even earlier this year when they were playing with that machine in Germany right?...yeaaaah...right.Comment

Re: 2012 Movie
I definately want to see this.I don't like the Yankees, I like the Red Sox, I don't like the Lakers, I like the Celtics, I hate the Canadiens and I love the Bruins. Soccer is the best sport on Earth, but most Americans are too ignorant to realize it. I am American.

Re: 2012 Movie
It's an interesting theory and one that will cause some panic, but IMO it's more of a media myth than anything else. Fun to read about though.
What's more interesting to me is the fact that the sun will align perfectly with the center of the milky way on 12/21/2012 at 11:11pm. It will be the first time that's happened in 26,000 years.Last edited by mjb2124; 12-10-2008, 09:23 PM.Comment

Re: 2012 Movie
The calendar simply starts back at the year zero, so I've heard from a guy who's an expert in this stuff. I don't see what the big deal is anyways. I don't believe any of the Mayan religious stuff, so why should I care about if/when they think the world is going to end?
I wish they'd make 2061: Odyssey Three into a movie.chuckcross.bandcamp.com

I consider myself a pseudo-expert on the Mayan calender ending, as I find it extremely interesting. My take on this is that the Mayans either said, "Wow this is far enough to make this calender in advance, or they knew that something celestial was going to happen. I tend to lean toward the celestial theory a little bit more than the tired Mayan theory. I think we will experience something in 2012, whether it is an unusual eclipse, a new planet or comet sighting, or my worst case scenario a polar shift. The Mayans were extremely meticulous people, and I cannot imagine that this calender ending is coincidental with the alignment of the Milky Way.
I am looking forward to Emmerich's new film, I just hope it's better that B.C. was.Comment
