After seeing his version of Halloween a few years ago, I was pleasantly surprised and pleased with the fact that he kept to the original storyline, for the most part and I enjoyed it. This one however, was hard to digest as a "Halloween" film considering that Michael was much more human in this film and looked like a hillbilly hobo in the scenes without his mask. Had this simply been a slasher movie by Zombie I would have enjoyed it much better.

The whole concept that this was supposed to be Michael Myers in a Halloween movie was hard for me to fathom. It just didn't feel right.....not to mention the fact that the ogre like grunts and moans coming from Michael didn't seem right either. Couple that with the direction Zombie took Loomis' character and the lack of the originial creepy theme music, and this movie just felt all wrong to a Halloween fan.
You have a lot of similar complaints that others have and I agree with a good portion of what you said. The groaning/grunting was a bit odd, but over the weekend my wife and I watched 4-6 and what was even crazy in those was the breathing that Michael would do behind the mask. The whole Loomis concept was disappointing in this film too.

Personally, he can fix this movie with a director's cut and get rid of the darn horse/Deborah visions and edit out those grunts. LOL! That is cool that he has his wife in all his films and don't blame him to a degree, but couldn't he use her some other way.

Personally I think that the movie could feel better without some of those elements.

On the slasher film topic, yes, I think that Zombie's original content is always good. Him trying to re-image or remake another piece of work just doesn't seem to work so well. I say this because he started this film off so awesome and it was so suspenseful at the hospital and then after that everything seemed to sort of fall apart once we move time foward. I literally felt like Laurie was done for at the beginning it was so intense. Now why couldn't he capitalize off this instead of going the direction he went?

Alex Aja is being rumored for the Halloween 3D film so that could work out very well. Aja did the Hills Have Eyes remake and of course, the excellent High Tension. Malek Akkad can't let off the wall ideas get past him anymore like his father did with some of the previous entries. I find the producer at fault for a lot of this too because they give the go ahead on crap and only care about the dollar signs.

Yes, the director's cut dvd is something I'll look forward to. I think the movie could have used about 15-20 more minutes and a little bit of chase scene leading to the climax. The ending was sudden and felt like it should have been built up more. In my opinion, the first 20 minutes were fantastic. It had suspense, violence, and Michael actually was scary. I'm not going to spoil it for those that haven't seen the movie yet, but once those 20 minutes were over I felt a bit betrayed and let down about things. LOL

I have mixed feelings about the movie. Part of me appreciates Zombie's take on things and how he was creative and original with his ideas and his portrayal of how the characters evolved since the first one. The other part of me feels like the movie was rushed and we didn't really see what this movie was supposed to be or could have been. Hopefully a director's cut will fill some of that void. As I stated in an earlier post, not having Michael always wear his mask throughout the film, and not using the "Halloween" music really took away from the Halloween experience for me.

Re: Halloween 2 Remake a Go

I finally saw this tonight at one of the cheap theaters in the area. I came away a little unsure. I didn't like it and didn't hate it. I did like most of it until the ending which I didn't care for. I will agree with others that this didn't feel like a Halloween movie, and certainly didn't feel like a remake of any kind. Take away the Myers mask and it's a totally different flick.

It doesn't mess around and is violent (Michael is a out of control killer) and has it's moments. I'll probably have to see it again on DVD to really see how I feel about it. I was glad I saw it in the theater however. Can't beat $8.25 for a movie ticket, large pop, and large popcorn!

Sooo this came out on DVD last night, rented it....holy crap, where to even begin with this crapfest.

I was thoroughly disappointed with RZ's Halloween but I wanted to give H2 a chance...wish I wouldn't have. A beyond convoluted plot with stupid sidebars that make no sense, plotholes galore, gore and violence that was so over the top it was cheesy, paper thin characters, and a lot of scenes that had me either scratching my head or saying mumbling WTF as I watched it.

Zombie just doesn't get it...never has, never will. He doesn't get what made the original Halloween movies so great and why the characters of Michael, Loomis, etc. were awesome and how they integrated so well together.

I won't even go into what Zombie did to the Loomis character...pathetic and ridiculous.

I will say this, Brad Douriff is the man and will always be the man...he's the only redeemable item from this waste of celluloid.

Hopefully Zombie and more importantly the Akkad's stay the hell away from the Halloween franchise.

          Ugh.

Forgot this even came out. I won't probably ever see it, the first one was such a steaming pile of doo doo that a sequel was nothing even on my radar.

I hated this movie,m WTF did that idiot Rob Zombie do? The first one was so good, and he turned around and crapped this piece of **** out. The whole white horse thing was the dumbest thing in the world, he was going for poetic stupidity?

And what the heck was with changing the original little kid from the first? That kid was creepy as hell. And the main character.....i don't blame her for this abomination of her movie, her lines and role was horrible. I understand stuff has happened to her and she's seen a lot etc etc, but the direction that idiot Zombie took her in was just as horrendous as the movie was. Man i am pissed at this piece of ****. And Loomis!!! i won't even touch that.......

How could he have done such a good job with the first to this piece of crap?
