I have the Sonia Bravia (46) and Toshiba (46)....Sonia picture knocks the Toshiba dead, wish I had bought two. Don't know about the price though. Costco has an additional years warranty on their t.v.s, which counts. Enjoy, when you get one.

I'd consider a plasma over LCD but that's a whole different discussion. LOL IMO, I'd go with the Sammy and save $300. It's not like you're stepping down to a Insignia or Westinghouse. I certainly wouldn't blind buy...take a trip down to the store and see them both.

The $300 can get you a blu ray player and some movies. Or a stackload of movies if you already have the BR player.

The sony is nice . I have to tell you that they been having lots of problems with the display burning out. There has been heatsinks added to the panel to reduce heat. You will notice that the screen runs hot.Make sure that you have an extended warranty or you will be sorry when it goes. The panels in flatscreens cost as much as the tv. They do that so that you will have to buy a new tv.I repair these for a company in New York.

Samsung and Sony are what you want for gaming. Actually, if you want a tv for any purpose, go with Samsung or Sony.

I've got a Samsung LN46A550 (1080p) and I use it for PS3, 360, and everything else, such as movies and watching sports. It's really amazing, and I'm extremely happy with my purchase.

What's everyone's thoughts on the Sharp Aquos LCD? Sharp has a nice 65" LCD. My only gripe with it is that it doesn't have a 100% black bezel like the Samsungs.

I am looking for an LCD or plasma that's 62" or greater and want some of your input. This TV would sit below two 37" LCDs and serve as the main display that would show "the best big game" on Saturday (or any given night ) and be the TV for gaming.

All of my other TVs in the house will be Samsung LCDs or plasmas, but I may have to break the trend and go with Sharp or Pioneer or something else for the main setup in the TV/theater room in the basement.

                Thanks guys.

Does anyone have a Pioneer Kuro?
I'm looking to pick one up after tax time.

I'm wondering if the price difference is worth it.

Haven't seen one personally, but most of the people on the websites I visit say that it is.

Re: Need help on buying a new LCD Flat Screen!

                      I have a related question.
My neighbor got a new hd tv for XMas.
Well he brought over his old tv last night which is a Sharp Aquos 46" lcd that is 6 months old.
The thing is the lcd screen needs replaced, is it worth taking to a repair shop?
How much is a new screen? Keep in mind I am still rocking an old non hd tv (a Sony 52"). And dont have the money to buy a new hd tv right now.
Again my question is should I just throw it away or take it and get it fixed, he just gave me the tv?

Hey Jake if the sharp is only 6 months old it is still under warranty. This means that parts and labor will cost you nothing. The only exception is if the screen is damaged by something hitting it.If the screen is fine take this to an authorized sharp dealer near you. They will honor the warranty and this will be yours for nothing. Thats a great deal for the new year.

Dont I need a receipt for the warranty to be valid?
My neighbor doesnt have the receipt.
Here is the whole story on this tv.
It belonged to my neighbors work, it was in their conference room and some one dropped it and it broke. Well they where just going to throw it away so he took it home.
He was going to take it to get it fixed but when his wife got him a new one for Xmas he no longer needed it so he gave it to me.
I have no receipt and have no idea where it was bought, no one will really take it in on a warranty will they?

If it was dropped then it probably shows some sign that it was dropped. However if there are no scratches or dents or visible damage I would take it to a place that will honor the warranty and see if it can be fixed for free. If not then atleast you will know how much it will cost to get repaired.

Well as long as the screen is not smashed and it does not show a sign of abuse your good. Look up the sharp phone number and tell them where you live and how old the tv is. Look on the back of the tv by the model number. There should be a stamp with month and date of manufacture. Then sharp will tell you where to take it for repair.
