Do you guys think the Kill Bill movies lived up to the hype? After Reservoir Dogs and Pulp fiction anthing Tarantino did deserved considerable hype but i can't help thinking Kill Bill fell a bit short. I did enjoy them though....

I got this used at Blockbuster because everyone was like "ZOMG this is the best movie ever", and when I watched it I was like "eh, it's kinda funny at times"...Definitely not something I'd want to watch over and over, that's for sure. I guess with the hype I expected better.

Superbad was hyped and well worth it, so I know some movies can live up to the hype.

Napoleon Dynamite depresses me for some reason. Maybe its the music or the characters I don't know but when I watch it, I get depressed. I usually don't watch it past the first 20 minutes or so.

I'm assuming he either got in for free (a friend working at the movies, perhaps) or he was "dragged" by his friends because that is what they wanted to see and he wanted to go out with them.

Yeah I was dragged to it but by my dad. I still don't know why he wanted to see them but he likes all 3 movies.

Peter Jackson's King Kong. Way too long winded, really bad acting by most of the actors, side plots that went nowhere, many laughable CGI scenes and the only movie that bored me because there was too much mindless action on the island. Kong fighting TRex's for 20 minutes is a little overdoing it and it was almost as long as Kong with the airplanes. How long does it take to shoot a big ape? Almost as bad as the endless finales on Return of the King.

I completely forgot about that movie but yeah, it was horrible and the CGI sucked. You could tell when they were standing in front of a green screen and the dinosaurs didn't look good at all.

I listened to my friend talk this movie up for years before I watched it like 2 months ago.

Definitely overhyped. Not really that funny.

And Andre the Giant is just there because he's Andre the Giant. No acting skill.

There is so much brilliant filmmaking and storytelling in the first two Godfather movies that you can literally teach a class on film and use it as an example. I understand that everything isn't going to resonate with everyone, but I can't imagine calling the Godfather overrated. One could easily make the argument that there aren't five movies better than the first two Godfather movies, if any can be called "better" at all. What Coppola does in the first two Godfather movies has not been duplicated since. Not to mention the fact that he practically invented a genre and spearheaded a movement. Wow.

The first Terminator movie was a feat on a different level. Considering its budget, Cameron broke considerable ground, even if the story was stolen. The storytelling in the second movie leaves a bit to be desired, as the best parts are just a retelling of the first movie, however the surrogate family dynamic added a layer of symbolism rarely seen in big budget film, and Cameron redefined the genre as he did with Aliens.

Wall-E: I think every pixar movie Ive seen has been better then wall-e.

I also agree on Fight Club a movie I like.
and American Beauty-a Lifetime movie with good cinematography.

Quentin Tarentino movies. I haven't seen all of his movies, but the ones I've seen don't make me seem like he's all that amazing...

Napolean Dynomite, that movie is ****ing awful. I did not laugh at a single scene/joke/anything during the entire movie. I just sat there stone faced for an hour and a half waiting for something funny to happen. I literally cannot believe that anyone on this planet finds that movie funny.

I also agree on The Godfather, I don't see how it's one of the best movies ever made. Scarface is up there too, that movie is wildly overrated.

Also, any Will Ferrell movie. Similar to Napolean Dynomite, his movies just aren't funny (sans Old School but he wasn't the main character). Anchor Man, Talladega Nights, Elf, etc. Just bad joke after bad joke.
