Re: 3D TV's coming by end of '09
I'm a little confused? Is it just a 3D TV? Meaning, if we can't find those glasses we can't just change it to HDTV or SDTV and still use it? If so, I think that would suck.
It would be awesome if it was a TV that could do everything else and then give you the 3DTV. I would buy that right now."Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that." -

So, I gotta buy a new TV and still wear the glasses?

When I was at an Eagles game a few weeks ago, I noticed they had two cameras side-by-side on the sideline truck instead of just the usual one.
Definitely interested. The 3D movies I've seen at places like Disney have been awesome and I can only imagine how cool the technology would be when applied to a sporting event.
Glassless 3D is the real hotness though.Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.

Re: 3D TV's coming by end of '09
This will probably a niche thing until the TV providers can find a way to accomodate the extra bandwith demands. The people who got Blu-Ray/HD-DVD early and were on board with HD from the get are the types that would end up buying this.
And yeah, I don't think there's a ton of potential until they get to the point where glasses aren't necessary. Too many people would lose/break them, and people with glasses will hate the whole thing (they need clip-on 3D glasses ha)... seems like that's the main hurdle along with just having enough 3D-capable media available.
The definite high point is that the sets are going to be only marginally more expensive than regular ones... So as long as the standard SD/HD picture is as good as another HDTV, that would be a good investment for someone who is interested in this (if you're buyiung a new TV anyway, why not?)... With DreamWorks and other studios apparently getting behind this fully, it'll probably survive long enough to keep everyone interested until they can go glasses-less with the whole thing.. that's when it would really catch on.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Stupid glasses and cable companies having to replace all the infrastructure = not happening therefore huge flop
Same goes with movies, there's a reason that there's been 3d since the 50's and it's never caught on. People just don't like it no matter what James Cameron may say to the contrary.Comment

There are tvs being sold today with this function built in already, its just not advertised or used. Some of you might have one and not even know it.
The negative of these sets is that they require the glasses to see 3D, and the current technology for 3D without glasses really stinks. Unless you are directly in front of the screen, the effect looks horrible.Comment

3D Tv's area already out and have been for awhile. The issue is the titles to support the 3D aspect. The TV I own below supports 3D titles:
