I saw the BCS Title game in 3D at a theater, it wasn't bad, I'm not sure it'll catch on main stream though.

That wasn't 3D. This is what they used to shoot 3D

Most of y'all are completely wrong on what this TV even does. It doesn't magically make stuff into 3D. It is just a TV made to support stuff already filmed in 3D like Journey to the Center of the Earth, My Bloody Valentine, ect.

I don't get why people hate the 3D glasses so much. Gone are the days of paper blue and red lense glasses. The glasses you get with 3D movies in theaters now are very flexible so it's not like you will break them.

          I don't think anyone thought that's how it'll work.

Anyway, the article is talking about this taking over HDTV as the must-have item of a great home entertainment system - and if the appropriate industries will invest more money into broadcasting games in 3D-ready format, as the article states. In other words, are we going to see 50 3D channels in five years with shows like Lost, CSI, etc being broadcast in 3D.

And that's the problem, especially with cable.... it's all due to its limited bandwidth. As the article stated, 3D feeds would take approximately 2 HD channels worth of bandwidth -- cable's already running up against the outer wall of what its infrastructure can handle, and that amount of information wouldn't really be feasible, especially considering that they will have to keep adding more HD feeds in the next few years to keep up with satellite and FIOS. Having movie studios, game makers (PS4 possibly being 3D), etc., is a good first step to get people to adopt the technology, but unless cable dies off as a medium or figures out some previously-unforseen way to increase their bandwidth, this won't be anything nearly as mainstream as HDTV for that reason.
