Not really If it works your all set jut get the codecs whenever you can. However, if it doesn't I'm going to need you to check your BIOS for me.

Restart your system. And go into your BIOS and check to see if your sound device is on, to do that you have to press F2 or F10 to access it or whatever it says at the bottom when you 1st turn it on.

                          Re: pcperformanceclinic.com

Well, I tried to get to that screen - I pressed F2, F5, F8, F10 - tried them each from the first second the system loads but couldn't get there for some reason.

I guess I'll live with that. I intend to buy a laptop in 3-4 months, so I'll have to live with no sound for a while.

                          Thanks for the effort!

BTW my brother bought his PC at the same store (or another of their branches) a little while after I did (2006). Recently he had his PC freezing a lot, and for some reason his DVD-rom didn't read DVD's - only CD's! so he went there and they replaced the mother-board and DVD-rom and it fixed the problems. It's just that I need my PC on a daily basis so I don't want to leave it there until they fix it and all that. One thing's for certain: I'll never buy another computer from there.

The Last Last resort is to Reinstall (Clean Install delete old partition install on a brand new one) your windows that would MOST likely get your sound back. I'm going to honestly say a 90% chance of it working.
