Except that the older people have had the privilege of seeing both at time of release to catch the full effect.

I only voted because i saw it was tied. As I've gotten older, I've found Star Wars to be more and more annoying. The most overrated movie franchise of all time. The Dark Knight is the best comic-adapted film which trumps the best sci-fi has to offer.

And older people have nostalgia to taint their judgement. Hence, the two-way street. I would think the Ninja Turtles movie was stupid today had I not seen it as a kid. I did see Empire as a kid, with my dad, but still like TDK more.

Nostalgia doesnt cut it, were not recalling memories of Empire from when we were kids, Probably all of us that voted for it have seen it again in the last year.

Watching it again today doesn't always erase nostalgia. As I said, I can watch the ninja turtles movie today and still appreciate it on some level because I can recall how the picture made me feel when I saw it for the first time. Which is true for a lot of things. Conversely, as a kid I never got into Thundercats where as one of my roommates in college did. When that got re-released on DVD he loved it, I saw it for the poorly animated series that it is. Had he never seen it as a kid, I'm sure he would have shared the same feelings I had. Nostalgia can affect us in many ways.

I saw TMNT at a younger age and thought it was as stupid then as it is in my recollections now. I don't think you can compare ESB with TMNT, but that's just my opinion.

I thought the dirt bike kid was the ish back then and i will still watch it now even tho its crap

Anyways ive seen both movies on DVD and IMO TDK was better...

If you're trying to compare ESB with TMNT (not to be confused with the CG movie) as films then you're missing the point. My point was if you watched and enjoyed something as a kid you're more likely to enjoy it now than someone who never saw it as a child would. Which isn't the same thing as saying someone who never saw said film as a kid is predestined to hate it as an adult. The example of the turtles is just an extreme case. My ultimate point was everyone has their own bias and younger people voting for TDK shouldn't feel inferior to older people that saw ESB back in the 80's. Just pick what you like, in the end it's just a stupid poll.

This is sad...if TDK wins the whole thing then I can only assume the masses on OS have gone mental. It is NOT the best film, greatest film, most iconic film, most technologically superior film, most groundbreaking film, nor even the best film of 2008, and I'm a fan of the movie. It simply doesn't surpass the competition.

The people of OS have already voted off the Godfather Part II and other "best of" candidates. If TDK wins it will be because others were voted off way too early and nothing was left to challenge it.
