Rough analogy, but who is your favorite athlete? By statistics alone, would he or she even be considered to be in the top three in their respective sport or league?

I understand what your getting at, but the equal to this would be to say...you might like a certain movie the best, but what movie did the best at the box office? If we where gonna do it like that then there would be no need for a poll. Just post the box office statistics and let that determine what the best movie is.

But the OP is asking for our own personal opinion. Movies to me are all about entertainment and nothing more, and I was more entertained by bttf than I was shawshank...therefore I think bttf was the better movie in my own eyes.

Pretty simple for me. I thought both movies were great, but I liked Shawshank better.

I'm almost ashamed to say it, but I finally saw Shawshank for the first time tonight. And it instantly became my favorite movie of all time. Not only was it a great movie, but it also got to me on a deep level, cause I've been going through some depression and crap and I guess it just kinda helped me realize some stuff that'll help me out in the end (not prison-wise, but emotionally and whatnot)

I know what you mean man. I saw this movie for the first time a few months back, not expecting very much from it b/c I usually don't like movies that are not taking place in modern times. But, it is now one of my favorites of all time.

Thats the problem. Some of these match ups are just off the wall. I think we should compare movies that are at least in the same genre.

Yeah, that would clear things up. No reason to complicate something so simple. if you like the movie better than the other choice VOTE for THAT movie.

These mismatches aren't a problem for me personally, it just seems like it is for other folks. Voting for the one I like best is exactly what I have been doing.
