Cancer kills more people than AIDS every year, why don't we go string up the corporate head of GE and everyone else that authorized dumping chemicals in the water and ground for the last 100+ years, knowing the health problems that these things have been shown to cause? They knowingly gave people terrible life-threatening diseases, kill 'em all! It's a slippery slope... what about people that give someone AIDS unknowingly? String 'em up! The US government even got in on the act in Tuskegee, who do we kill now?

Killing people for stuff they do isn't the answer for anything. Countries without the death penalty have lower incarceration and murder rates across-the-board... we're in the proud company of China, most of Africa, and the regressive Middle East as a government that thinks it's perfect enough to kill its own citizens. Doesn't it make you feel warm inside to be in the company of those other bastions of human rights?

I'm just not comfortable with an imperfect justice system that has made countless mistakes over the years making life or death decisions and killing its own citizens. I'm clearly not alone on that, as most of the Western world has gotten on-board with these basic human rights... we're still waiting for executions to scare crime away I guess.

SMH.. no red card for me, I'm done with this discussion. Still can't believe that people are seriously condoning domestic violence as a proper punishment for giving someone herpes. That's the sick-*** country we live in though, where it was perfectly okay for the government to kill mentally-challenged people and children until the last 5 years or so... Maybe we'll evolve another chromosome and get over the notion that retribution does something to stop future crimes.

If this was a regular dude, then I don't know. I don't condone hitting a woman in any case unless self-defense, but I can understand it.

But when you're a multi-millionaire, bubble gum, popstar and your girlfriend is also one of the biggest popstars in the world, than it is beyond stupid. He is wrong for hitting her just for the sheer stupidity of it.

I was using retribution in the sense that we're talking about here (death penalty), not retributive justice in general (meaning punishment for crime)... obviously locking someone up for life will accomplish the stated goal of stopping future crimes... The real crux of it is, why kill someone when there are other options? Especially when there's the chance that you did it in error? Just not comfortable with that at all.

If she did infact give him herpes then Chris Brown going Bobby Brown on her is the least of her worries. This is bad press for her career. Same thing for Chris Brown. Feeling bad for the kid because she gave him herpes will only take him so far. At the end of the day the kid beat up his girlfriend.
