Great movie, Col. Landa was awesome, but man is Pitt overrated. Not on the same level as Clooney or Damon, or any of his HOllywood buddies. Very generic acting by Pitt. Still a great movie though.

I liked the movie, I just wish there was more focus on the Basterds themselves. I felt like I barely knew the majority of them.

You're kidding right, Damon or Clooney don't hold a candle to Pitt in the acting dep't.

Watch Seven, Kalifornia, Fight Club, 12 Monkeys or Jesse James and get back to me that Pitt can't act. Clooney is as generic as they come and the only role that Damon was really good in was the Talented Mr Ripley. And no the Bourne movies aren't big acting achievements.

I am liking the movie..it can be slow at times though..if it's not slow or hilarious, it is very entertaining.

Clooney isn't as good as Damon, Damon IMO is one of the better young actors around but I've seen all of Pitts movies and never been too impressed. I forgot to mention Troy and Snatch, a film where Pitt was supposed to play the lead but had to get recast because of his horrible English accent.

I was a bit disappointed with the movie, it's good but not great. It follows the same formula that Tarantino does for all his movies.

Unevenly paced with way too long and boring dialogue driven scenes just to show some cute banter between characters that really doesn't progress the plot and is there as filler rather than character development.

Then you'll get the explosive and brief action scene just to shake things up and add puncuation to the scene. Rinse and repeat. If you watch almost every other movie he's directed it's done the exact same way. He has different stories but they are always done the same way except for maybe Kill Bill.

It was something different for a war movie as it really wasn't a war movie but I was expecting Tarantino to not the use the same filming habits for every movie he's does.

Although Pitt was terrible in Troy, just wasn't the right casting choice, he was never meant for the lead in Snatch. He had a terrible accent in Snatch because he was playing a gypsy and it was intended that way and his character was truly memorable in Snatch. Another role he was amazing in and stole the movie.

Ritchie wanted him for the lead role but his accent wasn't good enough. That was a good role, but have the time he's speaking jibberish

You deserved to get slapped for saying that.

Bear Jew was the best character in the whole movie...outside of the SS Officer.

                        Spoiler

I just wish that the pace of this movie was much more even...It starts slow, blurs past some important scenes, goes slow at the bar scene, then flies to the end.

Just watched the blu-ray last night and felt the same way. Guess my expectations were a little too high given I had heard good feedback on the movie prior.
HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

I think it's time for him to branch out and actually make something that is really original and not always dependent on random and trendy dialogue and paying homage to obscure movies from the past. It's getting old and I really thought this movie was gonna be different but it really was a rehash of all his other movies if you peel away the WW2 theme. It was an original concept but done the same old Tarantino way. For me it's like if you've seen one Tarantino movie, you've seen them all. He could take a lesson from David Fincher in how to mix things up stylistically.

Remembering how good his CSI directed episode was I think he really needs to play it straight and make a horror movie about a serial killer in the same vein as Seven. One thing that Tarantino is still master at is creating tension in movies and he would be perfect in that type of genre that needs tension but less emphasis on the gore. As long as didn't make it another homage to past horror movies and kept the pointless banter to a minimum.

I like Tarantino (good late night talk show guest) but I don't like most of his movies.

Outside of an Oscar worthy performance by Chris Waltz, I have very little positive to say about this film.

The movie was 20 minutes too long and there were long stretches where I was extremely bored.

                                Movie Grade: C
