To me it seems he's getting top guests hand fed to him.

I remember when Conan started he always had fake guest like the guy who dressed up like a donkey or something since he couldn't get anyone to come on his show. And to a slightly lesser extent, Jimmy Kimmel went through the same thing. A lot of his first shows were guested by his friends like Adam Corrola, Snoop Dog, Patton Oswalt, Sara Silverman and they kept bringing back The Armenian Comedian and Tammy Faye Baker because they were readily available and were always entertaining.

Those two guys (especially Conan) had to work their asses off and now they get great guests every single night while Jimmy Fallon has Robert De Niro and Justin Timberlake on the first night. While JT probably isn't a stretch since he and Fallon are probably buddies from SNL, I really can't see De Niro doing that first show out of the kindness of his heart.

Normally I would equate it to nerves as to why Fallon is so twitchy out there but I think that's his personality. He laughs incessently at his own jokes and talks really fast and has a jittery personality because that's what he was like before. He's the same way when I see him on interviews. He's just the wrong type of person to be a talk show host. Some celebrities aren't cut out for it. He won't last a year.

I just question the brain trust who makes these decisions. Exactly what made these people think that Fallon has the right stuff to do this. He was the best they could come up with. Must be some of the same people who decided Chevy Chase and Magic Johnson would be good hosts.

So far this show has been as big of a disaster as those shows although for pure unintentional comedy nothing beats Magic and his dire attempts at speaking in coherent sentences with guests. Howard Stern used to replay the best parts of Magic on his show and just crucify him.Too bad when Stern finally appeared on his show it was a lame interview.

Lorne Michaels has faith in Fallon like he had in Conan. In this case, I think it's misplaced... at least in the realm of hosting a talk show. Like you said, his personality and his comedy is just not talk show material.

                  Perhaps it should be reversed.

Fallon should be doing a variety show while Leno continues doing the talk show.

Just caught my first Fallon show. Wow. He is bad. And Nervous. Saw the St. Patty's day ep. on Hulu. Good luck, Jimmy. No where to go but up.

Throughly enjoying the Roots though. Almost reason enough to tune in for me.

I'm actually still watcing it, but it's pretty painful. I think I'm going to have to cut it off. The "drunk professor" sketch is beginning to break me. This is really not funny.

I saw the first episode of Fallon and didn't like it, but I just watched my second episode tonight and thought it was pretty damn good. I laughed quite a few times and Fallon didn't seem quite as uneasy.

Also, The Roots is the greatest house band of all time by far.

I honestly don't understand the hate for Fallon as a talkshow host. I think I understand the hate for him as a comedian, but I'd guess that he's no worse than Leno, Letterman, or O'Brien in their first few weeks.

Didn't watch the show tonight but I read on his twitter that the had Statler and Waldorf (the old muppets guys) as guests and got hypnotized by the Amazing Kreskin.

That sounds like an awesome show. Too bad I missed it

                            LOL at last night's episode:

                            <object width="512" height="296"><param name="movie" value="http://www.hulu.com/embed/RSI6R45hDmcYXU0L7M4x4Q"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.hulu.com/embed/RSI6R45hDmcYXU0L7M4x4Q" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" width="512" height="296"></embed></object>

I can't believe how much he can still look like Zack. He looks different in Raising the Bar, which is a good show.

Pretty cool of Mark to do that.

Jimmy should seriously get a Saved By the Bell Reunion. That would get ratings.
