    Re: Public Enemies

Just got back from the midnight showing. Jawdropping. It was incredible, Mann's setting that he established was so good that it didn't feel like the movie was just set in another time period, it felt like it actually was the 1930's. It had a different feel to it, it was unlike any other film I have ever seen.

The book was great but so far the critics have been saying the movie isn't worth it.

            We shall see.

Well, according to rottentomaotes the reviews arn't as favorable as metacritic states. And I was initially really hyped about this film and then somewhat concerned about the early reviews but I was blown away by the film (see my post on the last page.)

Its an art film and a crime film. It doesn't tell you how to think about an event, it doesn't waste scenes and screen time explaining things to people that arn't paying much attention. It subtle, yet in your face. I was amazed.

saw this movie tonight, pretty good overall. There are some weaknesses in the plot and story, but the action was good and the story did get a lot better the second half of the movie. Recommend it...

Saw this today. Thought it was average. I am a big Depp fan so him being in it and Batman being in it make it a lot more watchable. Average movie at best though.

I need to watch it again cause I saw it at midnight when I was exhausted and kept falling asleep. One thing that was weird though was the camera, it had the same look as those history channel renactments.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

The filming, camerawork, and cinematography are very different in this film. Some people didn't like that, myself on the other hand thought it made the movie and was incredible.

Thats how Michael Mann films. He used the same look in Collateral and Miami Vice. I loved it in this film.

Yeah I know and I felt like is was more prominent in this film and had a much larger impact on the film (in a good way).

                            Can't wait for the Blu-ray

Same kept happening to me lol(seen the 11pm show)but I was up to catch most of the movie and the ending and all I can say is that this movie was great. Not a fan of Michael Mann really(hated Collateral and Miami Vice)but I think he did a great job with this film and thought Johnny Depp did a great job playing as Dillinger. Would definitely go see this again in the Movies.
