Yeah I agree. I got a lot from his show when the towers went down. His show was powerful that day. I think he is a very wise man, funny, but very wise.

I wouldn't expect Dodd to go on the Daily Show.

Re: Jon Stewart Lays the Smackdown on Jim Cramer
I dont think Cramer came off that bad. CNBC did, but while Cramer does have intimate knowledge of how the market works, his show is entertainment. He's not a reporter anddoesn't have the "live" interviews that most reporters do.
If CNBC (or anyone) gets these guys "live" they need to ask the questions without pissing off the CEO's. The problem is that as a reporter, the first time you ask a CEO something that comes off the wrong way or you insinuate they are a liar, you lose access to other CEO's and big wigs.
Stewart did call out Cramer, and he isnt blameless (Cramer), but i think its the whole financial reporting industry that screwed this one up. Where was FINRA, NYSE/NASD, the SEC, the Treasury in all this? Thats their job, regulatory matters and oversight.Check out my Tampa Bay Buccaneers CFM Thread.

Re: Jon Stewart Lays the Smackdown on Jim Cramer
The problem is people take cramers recommendations as absolutes without timeline. He recommends stocks he think will go up - it may that stock 1 hour or 2 years to move. As soon as it does move his recommendation changes.
People just dont understand how the market works. Because of this Cramer looks like a ******* when that couldnt be further from the truth.

I don't trust talking heads on television a whole lot and financial advisers/stock analysts are at the very bottom of that list because really all the stock market is is a hype game and you don't know which stock analyst is being paid by who.

Re: Jon Stewart Lays the Smackdown on Jim Cramer
I agree!
The only financial news figure that I have any kind of respect for is Lawrence Kudlow. His show is pretty good and there's a wide variety of topics on it. He gets my respect because he was part of the financial team that Reagan had in the '80s. So while i don't necessarily agree with his financial viewpoints all the time at least the guy has some credibility unlike say oh, Maria Bartiromo.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Jon Stewart Lays the Smackdown on Jim Cramer
This issue isn't Cramer himself, and Stewart went into this several times in the interview.
-CNBC as a company claims financial expertise
-These experts didn't forewarn the financial bubble bursting
-One of their spokesmen pointed the finger at laymen for not knowing that the investments were bad
-Not only did CNBC not warn about these investments, but they supported the banks that were behind these loans.Comment

Kudlow is an ideologue. The majority of the talking heads on CNBC are just cheerleaders for the financial markets and have no journalistic integrity.I agree!

David Faber seems like a decent guy. He was great on House of Cards. I would love to see more programming like that on CNBC.Comment

Yeah I know Kudlow's an ideologue but at least he makes that known up front rather then being a cheerleader for the markets like most of the other folks at CNBC.Kudlow is an ideologue. Re: Jon Stewart Lays the Smackdown on Jim Cramer
As he should. Dodd is a total scumbag. First he claimed that he didn't have anything to do with the AIG bonus provision slipped into the stimulus package, then he admitted that he signed off on it. I hope the voters of Connecticut boot him out of office next year. Ridiculous.
