Celebrities whose fame you cannot explain.....

My wife and I were having this conversation this morning while I was getting ready for work, so I'll pose it to OS, what celebrities' fame absolutely baffles you and why?

Here was our list.

Jennifer Lopez - She can't sing, she sure as hell can't act, and to the best of my knowledge she's only done one movie where she showed her breasts. It seems she is famous for dating more famous men and lots of them.

Paris Hilton/Nicole Ritchie - So because your parents are rich, you should be famous despite not being attractive, having no skills whatsoever, and generally making Peter Griffin look like a MENSA member.

The cast of The Hills (or any prequel or spinoff shows) - Why lord, why?

Kardashians - all of them except Bruce Jenner.
I also don't understand the appeal of The Hills. Give me 90210 (old or new) anyday!
Anybody having anything to do with American Idol or Dancing with the Stars, especially Simon Cowell. World-class d-bag.

Her start with The Mask was actually pretty stellar. She's just... gotten older and less attractive since then. I wish she starting her acting career earlier.

Uhh... Fergie. She can sing, but she doesn't utilize that talent enough and tries her "other talents" too much that aren't good.

BTW I can kinda see where the Kardashians got their fame from remember, the late Bob Kardashian was OJ's first lawyer before Bob Shapiro took over. So the old man was a rather famous lawyer.

BTW I can kinda see where the Kardashians got their fame from remember, the late Bob Kardashian was OJ's first lawyer before Bob Shapiro took over. So the old man was a rather famous lawyer.

I know their old man was a famous lawyer, but that doesn't make his children famous by proxy of that. It isn't like we are well acquainted with Johnny Cochrane's children (if he even had any, but you get the general point).

Ryan Seacrest actually had a pretty popular radio show in LA, that was part of the reason he got the job on Idol with Brian Dunkleman the first season. I would also at least say for Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell they are successful producers, so they have some skills (I won't give the washed up 80's star the same credit as she would fall into this category if not for Idol).

That's true but that's one of the perks of being related to someone famous. It's easier for you to take advantage of your link to fame and then stretch it out to the point that you become a minor celebrity.

I think it would be easier to list celebrities that I CAN believe are famous.

There's so much trash these days, people can get famous for really doing absolutely nothing, and having no talent.
