Monster Cable Scam at Fry's
They have 2 tv's set up showing the difference a Monster Cable HDMI makes, the TV with the Monster Cable HDMI is connected to the TV's HDMI port while the other (non Monster Cable) TV is connected to the Composite hookup

Re: Monster Cable Scam at Fry's
That's just brutal.
I saw the same thing at Best Buy with calibrated and non-calibrated TVs. Well not exactly, but the non-calibrated was running at 60 Hz and not 120 Hz like the calibrated TV. Granted, one is "calibrated" and the other one isn't, but it would be nice to keep all settings comparable whilst changing the little things from the service menu.
But this... this is just unfair. Hopefully someone goes down for this.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60 -

Re: Monster Cable Scam at Fry's
Wal Mart does this too. The TVs they make a lot of money on they bother to tune and have set right. The ones they sell near at cost they hook up and don't bother. Some of them they will set on stretch so it's all Fd up.Comment

Yeah, Monster cables in general are a rip-off, this is just in bad form. I remember hearing about this a while back. Looks like it is still going on. Shame.Comment

Re: Monster Cable Scam at Fry's
Most people don't have a clue and are easy prey for this. Sometimes you can't even talk them out of it even after explaining. If it costs more, it HAS to be better.Comment

Re: Monster Cable Scam at Fry's
Not 100%. If you are cabling a big home theater and will be using really long lengths of cable, Monster cable is better once you get over 50+ feet.
But in that case, you are a millionaire and can afford it.
6 foot cables = no difference
50 foot cables = proven differenceComment

Re: Monster Cable Scam at Fry's
I'm glad I read about all the monster lies before I got my tv and had to buy hdmi cords. Every store I went to tried to get me to pay way too much money for some Monster cables.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: Monster Cable Scam at Fry's
Friends don't let friends buy Monster cables or BOSE speakers.
FWIW, if you work on sales comission Monster pays the highest if i remember correctly. Still wasn't enough to get me to con people into buying Monster cables. I directed everyone to monoprice.comComment

Re: Monster Cable Scam at Fry's
Damn, I feel like a moron.
I've been shopping around for a new big screen once I finish my living room remodel and had made my mind up looking at the ones at Walmart.
So you're saying don't judge them by what they look like, what yardstick do I use?Comment
