    Christian the Lion

Did anyone else see this on Animal Planet?

    Pure awesomeness.

2 Australians living in London back in the 60s bought a Lion cub from Harrod's and raised him for over a year. When he got too big to take care of, they managed to take him to Africa where he could live free. After a year away from the two guys, they came back to see him and here is the reaction.

If you are an animal lover, you have to get a little teary eyed at this.... Great stuff.

LOL WTF? How did they not know the lion wasn't going to attack them? How do they know that is the lion the raised (well before he jumped on them)

Because the old guy in the video was taking care of him and his "pride".

They explain it all in the Animal Planet special.

Not to mention...he was their "pet". I'm pretty sure I could spot my Golden Retrievers in a group of other Goldens.

This has been posted before and it's also found it's way across e-mailworld. I'm still not convinced by this depiction. The adult lion could easily have been trained as a circus lion. Gunther Gable Williams, Ringling Bros. greatest cat performer typically got close to lions/tigers in his act as do other trainers. This could be the case here, with the story manipulated to come across as it did. You can't really be comparing domesticated dogs to lions in the wild.

Sorry to burst any animal loving bubble, but this story has me skeptical as it makes for good Animal Planet TV.

This is like the fourth or fifth time this has been posted in my (almost) two years here.
