Do You Believe In Ghosts?
Or do you think all the stories out there are either made up, or the people genuinelly think they experience something, but its just a psychological thing?Tags: None -
Re: Do You Believe In Ghosts?
Used to believe in everything, now I dont really believe in anything. I think a lot of the things people see or hear is psychological. Kinda like when people hear those hidden 2pac lyrics. When people go into something wanting to hear or see something in particular, they are already bias in one way or another, and thus have a diluted perspective. Ghost hunters always "hear" or "feel" something, while skeptics would proabably not feel anything out of the ordinary.
Everybody always has a friend or relative, but no one has ever seen anything first hand. Just think about this, what do the ghosts do on their spare time, what are their hobbies?? It just doesn't make any sense.
The only think I somewhat believe in is life existing somewhere outside our solar system(intelligent or non), but I don't think we will ever in any life time come in contact with one another if they do exist. I don't think the human race can survive long enough for the technological advances to progress far enough. -
Re: Do You Believe In Ghosts?
I believe our brains make **** up to try to understand things we saw that we really didn't understand... By that I mean I don't believe in ghosts for even a second - but I don't believe everyone (although some people do) is making it up when they think they saw one. Instead, I believe they saw something else their brain couldn't process and identify in time, so their belief in ghosts was used to make an unexplainable occurrence explainable ("it was a ghost!").
The brain is a strange, lazy thing that will do whatever it has to in order to make sense of things that it didn't make sense of. Including flat out making **** up, and convincing itself.Comment

Re: Do You Believe In Ghosts?
I do not believe in ghost, like the above posters said when you go into something thinking your going to see a ghost then your already biased and your mind starts playing tricks on you. Like on Ghost Hunters when someone hears a noise or sees something they attribute it to being a ghost, when it could be anything.
I do believe there is life out there in the solar system. I think there is another planet in a solar system a similar distance from a star like the Earth is.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Re: Do You Believe In Ghosts?
I had some weird incident at home (I live in the apartment that used to belong to my grandparents). The guy who lived here before my wife and I moved in (we had a contract on another apartment and had to wait before we could move here) told my uncle (co-owner of the apartment with my mom) that he felt somepne touching his houlder while he was home alone. Still, I don't really beleive in that.My Specs:

Re: Do You Believe In Ghosts?
I've had a few experiences in my life that make me believe in the supernatural. Whether they are ghosts, I don't know, but just based off of those events, I'm convinced that there is something out there.
First experience: I was 19, and in my second year of college. I had just gotten off work, and when I got back to my dorm, my roommate had some of our friends over, just hanging out. It was early in the week, so nothing was going on at the local bar that we hung out at, so we couldn't drink, and had to find something else to do. My college (the University of Montevallo) had a building that used to be a civil war infirmary on campus, but was now just a building for the theatre department, but only on the first floor. A couple of us wondered if anything else was in there, on the second floor, so we decided to go find out. My girlfriend at the time (now my wife) had a key to the building since she was heavily involved with the theatre department (stage manager, writer, director, etc), so she let us in. Upstairs, we started wandering around, played with a dumbwaiter in one of the rooms, found some old odds and ends that we didn't recognize, blah blah blah... About 15-20 minutes into our visit, one of my friends felt really creeped out, so I offered to take her outside, and keep her company. As I walked back into the hallway, I saw a figure out the far end of the hallway, so I grabbed my roommate and went to check it out. As we got closer, the figure entered a room, so we followed it. When we shined our flashlights in the room that we saw it go in, it was a closet, and no one was there. No trap doors, no windows, solid walls and ceiling, no way out except the door we were in front of. We looked at each other for a second, and started to laugh, thinking that we were just imaging things. The next day, in that wing of the building, the floor fell through. We thought it was a weird coincidence, but in a 150 year old building, we figured it was to be expected.
Second experience: Still in college, same year, I went to Georgia to spend a weekend with my girlfriend and this lady that she used to babysit for. We got there, and we told her about what happened at school, and she proceeded to tell us that her house was haunted. I laughed, and she told me that, most nights, you could hear footsteps in the hallway, and would see the reflection of a woman walking in the glass of the picture frames. In the morning after those nights, the cabinets in the kitchen would be open, and the Virgin Mary statue on top of the dish cabinet would be turned around. Figuring that she would try to scare us that night, my girlfriend and I stayed awake to listen. Everyone else had gone to bed, so we snuck out into the living room to wait. We talked for a few hours, occasionally going into the kitchen to refill our drinks (just iced tea, no booze), and around 2AM or so, we decided that we had waited long enough, and everyone else was sound asleep, so we turned to go back to the bedroom. I thought I saw movement in a picture frame (power of suggestion can be strong), but shook it off. As we passed the kitchen, the cabinets were all open, and the statue was backwards. A little spooked, we went and knocked on her friend's door. She answered, and we could tell that we had woken her up. When we told her what happened, she said to just go to bed. There was no way out of her room except that doorway, unless she jumped out the window (on the second floor), and walked around the house.
Other random things happened at our college that people called ghost stories, and I saw some of them, but I could logically explain everything except for those two stories. You can choose to believe me, or try to explain the stories, or think I'm a liar. Honestly, I don't really care. I saw what I saw, and was convinced that something is out there.Last edited by chilli311; 04-07-2009, 07:48 AM.Through music, you can live forever...TEAMS: San Diego Chargers, San Diego Padres, Notre Dame Fighting IrishComment

Re: Do You Believe In Ghosts?
Depends on what a "ghost" is to you.
When you experiance something, some make it worse in their head. Some ignore it (ignorance is bliss) and some just keep going.
I do believe there are certin things our mind is not supposed to comprehend. Thats why some see it and some dont.
The only thing to consider is it isnt like its a get rich quick scheme by saying you saw a ghost (or alien most of the time). Most of the time people just want to say your nuts.
I never never had anything happen to me, but i dont discount what other have happen. As long as they appear to present a logical thought process and dont want to see ghosts. I like it when crazy s*** happens to skeptics. Those are the stories i take the most from.Comment
