Well, I'll go with the USB one, since I intend to buy a laptop soon and I'll be able to use it for the laptop as well. Don't want to open the case, already did that and there's not much to do there. I prefer a simple USB sound card, and I've seen one that costs $11. I'm not into mixing or sound-editing stuff anyway. I'll be checking it tomorrow and tell you guys if it works well.

Re: External soud card
Today I bought one of those USB sound cards. I tried just about anything and it didn't work. I already know that my motherboard is screwed but that's why I got the EXTERNAL sound card. After 3 hours of trying just about anything - I gave up. It wouldn't play a sound. I even found a driver and installed it (no driver came with the product) and it still didn't work. The device-manager gives me some error on something called Microsoft Kernal Sound...etc... although the USB card is added to the list an functions. I still can't load the little speaker icon because it says there's not soun device or something like that.
At least I didn't spend much money on it. I'll keep it for the laptop I'm gonna buy. I really hope it works for you guys.My Specs:

Re: External sound card
Yeah, I know the feeling. I've been without sound for almost 3 months. It's not that bad...I can't play games, listen to music, hear youtube videos and more...but I got used to itNext month I'm gonna buy a laptop - hopefully with 3GB ram and some 9X00 GeForce card. that'll enable me to play all the 2006-2008 FPS/TPS games I missed because my PC wasn't good enough for them. No, don't worry, I ain't gonna buy all those games
Oh, and NBA 2K9 too!!!!!!!!My Specs:
