Re: Which show has/had a sharper decline? (Simpsons or Family Guy)
Strange, I am the same way in this regard. Otherwise, if I stumble upon either The Simpsons or Family Guy whilst channel surfing, I tend to stick around and watch. I do not overthink the process; I haven't really deconstructed Family Guy or The Simpsons (not that there's anything wrong with doing so). I just enjoy watching them. They're kind of like comfort food, but they're TV shows instead of food.Comment

Re: Which show has/had a sharper decline? (Simpsons or Family Guy)
Actually, I have rewatched both series from the start and the Simpsons from season 3-9/10 is insanely good for the most part. Family Guy gets good around season 3 and doesn't really fall off as hard to me as you guys have said. I can't stand almost any episode where Meg's voice isn't the girl from the 70s Show/Sarah marshall (Mila Kunis?).
The one show that's been consistently underrated and always funny is King of the Hill. I got reaquainted with it at 10pm on Cartoon Network and make sure to watch 2 episodes a night before bed...love it.
i agree. that show is still good. not every episode is great though. there are some episodes that are downright not funny but for the most part it is good.
im sorry but ever since the "Who shot Mr. Burns?" 2 parter, the Simpsons have been average to downright awful. with only about 2 or 3 quality episodes a season. Bart is nowhere near as funny as he used to be. how much more dumber can u make homer?
The Simpsons will always have a place in my heart but that show has fallen of BIG TIME!!!Last edited by Rawdeal28; 04-21-2009, 01:36 AM."on hoping there is a PSN flash sale before Valentine's Day"

Re: Which show has/had a sharper decline? (Simpsons or Family Guy)
Even though it's not a good show, Family Guy can still make me laugh since it's so random.
The Simpsons was brilliant for a really long time and was probably my favorite show in the 90's, but not anymore. All of the jokes are so predictable now. It's full of awful puns and it reminds me of that Family Circus cartoon in the lameness of its material.
Family Guy had the sharper decline, but The Simpsons fell a lot further.Comment

Family Guy had the sharper decline because as others have said... The Simpsons had a much longer run of solid television than FG did.
Also as another poster said, South Park killed Family Guy to me. Whenever I see FG, all I see is manatees in a tank putting random joke balls together to make the punch lines.
And finally... add me to the list of King of the Hill lovers. Great, great show. Extremely underrated.http://flotn.blogspot.com

Family Guy is still my favorite animated show. The Simpsons got old real fast for me. I probably haven't watched an episode since the mid 90's.PSN ID: Lordcledus

Re: Which show has/had a sharper decline? (Simpsons or Family Guy)
Well when i randomly watch a new episode
Family Guy: Stupid songs and pretty much stupid antics for a laugh. A few random good ones and might be trying to better them selfs but isnt what it was supposed to be about. Lost direction imo.
The Simpsons: Classic family doing along the lines of what the always have. Havent changed to much. Seems to want to distance away from stupid humor (Family Guy type) while still having Homer on that level.
South Park: Had a great episode about family guy. Still doing what it always has. Most of the time im not in the mood for it but they do what they do well. Still talk about lots of things in many ways using no restraint. And they dont seem to show their politics. They seem to just make fun of it all. I dont watch enough, but i dont see the one sided political shots im starting to see with FG.

Yes i've noticed since the HD switch that the Simpsons has been just doing boffo. I watched the episode with Moe and the midget girlfriend and thought that was hilarious. My only complaint was the ending came out of nowhere.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Family Guy is one of the few shows that still make me laugh
Is it on the decline ratings wise, or opinion wise? b\c it still has a huge audience...
I still watch the Simpsons too...but it seems they get more family guyish by the week...a "meets" episode is over due IMO
Southpark....ugh cant get into itComment

I doubt that ever happens as the writers of FG and The Simpsons don't exactly like each other.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
