Anyways its spot on, its funny how Eminem can get away with talking about little to nothing in alot of his verses, but yet a rapper like Canibus has been plagued, and slammed by fans and critics alike for his entire career for just being lyrically out of this world, and even he has some nice songs with concepts, and depth if you take the time listen to some of his music. As far as this album is concerned, I definitely fall into the underwhelmed category. After years of him being off the scene, I expected more, and I expected to hear an artist that had grown musically, but it seems he's more concerned with going back in time, and trying to capture what he once was all at the age of 36.... Well, its not sayin much, but Relaspe is better than Encore, but not better than MMLP, SSLP, The Eminem Show, or even Infinite.

Great post. I totally agree with you about Canibus, and he does indeed get an unfair rep as a skilled emcee.

However, the greatest technical emcee to me is Pharoahe Monch by a hair over Canibus and Chino XL. PM is awesome in every sense of the word. Lyrics, varied delivery styles in flow, storytelling (real life & abstract concepts)... the man can do it all on the mic. If only he can release a top quality album that showcases his skill level. Although his solo albums have been okay (Desire) and good (Internal Affairs) to date, I don't think has contributed to a truly great album since his Organized Konfusion days when paired up with Prince Po.

As for Eminem's new album Relapse, I haven't heard it yet so I can't really comment on it now. Looking forward to listening to it soon, though.

I agree. . .Pharoah is nice. Especially in the Flow/Delivery/Wordplay department. . .I still think Mos is the best as far as emcees on a MAJOR doing real emceeing. . . .Common is in the top 3 or 4, he has watered down his style but is still capable of amazing verses.
