Those numbers are over-rated. Most LCD TVs, including 60 Hz, will have a refresh rate of 5 ms. That's plenty good enough for people's eyes. The big difference is the anti-judder software that the 120 Hz TVs offer. That will smooth things out which is usually a problem with the source material rather than the TV itself.

Here is a link that's a good read (even if it's old).

Honestly, both those TV's are pretty much exact. I'd go for whichever you can get cheaper. Remember, once it's in your house, you won't have anything to go up against. Can't go wrong with either set really.

If it's brand name you want, I'd go with Sammy as I think they make better TV's than Sony does.

Might want to look at Vizio as well if you are trying to be on a budget. Might be able to grab a 37 or 42" set for the same price as those 2.

The 720p to 1080p argument doesn't help in this matter either, as the TV's you have chosen are both 32". Won't really tell a difference (if you can you are much better than me or anyone I know) with 720P and 1080P on that size set.

        Good luck.

Actually, in terms of true picture quality it is the most important thing to take into consideration.

I was speaking in terms of comparing contrast ratio numbers from different companies. There is no "universal" standard for calculating it, so any company can put down what they want for it.

Example. I rate a girl a 9 on looks and you rate the same girl a 7. Who's more "right" ?

Trust your eyes, not a spec sheet.

Agreed on all points. I'd seriously consider the 37inch Vizio if you're not dead set on the Sammy or Sony. All 3 should be around the same price tag.

I think you'll find several people including myself that can vouch for the Vizio's LCD HDTVs. Haven't had a problem with my 32 inch...very good PQ.
