When im in the club and this song comes on I dance to it and enjoy myself.

Man this is pretty much all im saying man.

I don't mind him making the money, But his music is terrible. If I decide to make a minstrel show, having black folk Fooling around with Watermelon and Fried Chicken. and it is successful does that make me a successful black man or a sell out trying to make money??

If we want to get into the whole social and race related matter of this whole thing Soulja Boy isnt even close to being the worse perpetuation of THAT.

The whole thing is a Minstrel Show too be honest with you man.

But as far as him making beats, and music to dance too..thats all i was speaking on.. but if you want to create a thread speaking about the other topic be my guest.

My whole issue is balance on the radio more then anything else. When "tootsie roll" came on then they would play 2pac, when" Thats just my baby daddy" came on then they would play Biggie. Now they just play 6 songs in a row with some dummy from down south who cant speak english (Plies) and play it over and over.

I hear ya, but I sometimes listen to the Radio, so unless Bob Johnson owns Clear Channel I cant blame him, I blame record execs who don't know what good music is.

This song is catchy but after 2 listens I had enough. This is the reason I never listen to the radio but I can defiently see why people love SB, cant hate on him though.

It's 2009, we have SO many different ways of listening to the type of music we like...we are no longer tied to the radio like we were back in the day. Thats why fretting about whats on the radio is silly to me....lol

I hate this song, and im not a souldja boy fan at all, but truth is...yeah I would probably start dancing to it if it came on in the club as well...As much as people come w\ this whole "back in the day philosiphy" they forget about the sheer "fun" aspect of it all..

Very much agreed. The perverting music idea is pretty baffling. For the record though, I can't stand this song and I can't see how anyone could sit through it. I didn't last 30 seconds. I thought it was horrible. That's okay though, I'm not a member of Soulja Boy's target demographic. He's just a young dude putting out what obviously a lot of people want.

For some reason, I was compelled to look at the music video of this on youtube after reading this thread. I made it through about of the third of the song before both my eyes and ears were bleeding profusely.

I hear you, but once this song and other Soldier Boyish type songs move from the club to the streets and IPods it's another story. That's my "beef" if you want to call it that.

I hear you though everyone has their own taste in music obviously and people may like listening to this idiot and other similar idiots for the "fun" factor. Personally I feel like their songs should be relegated to the clubs/parties and should not be allowed anywhere else

Its almost every rapper down south, SB opened up the portal....Stanky leg, swag surfin and etc...

Dont have a problem with that type of music but like a poster before said back then for every Tootsie roll we had a Juicey...For every Luke we had Scareface for every Coolio we had Dr. Dre...Now its all party bull crap songs back to back to back...Yea we have 100's of ways to listen to music now but Im concerned about the future of music and Hip Hop in general...Our future which are these kids are sitting here listening to this stuff and watchin people get payed millions to say nuffin....Reason why every chance I get I try to put people on Drake...

As a person who want a career in the music industry im concerned...then again this is why im taking up business so I can start my own and wont have to worry about the heads telling me and my artists what to put out there...

All in all my beef is with the radio station/DJ's who play them in heavy rotation...

In Philly local artist dont even get love on the airwaves...its all " DO THE STANKY LEG!!!!!!" SMH...
