    There Will Be Blood

Amazing acting, amazing soundtrack. Took me forever to finally see this movie, it's been a ways down on the queue, but damn was it worth the wait. Excellent film.

Calvin Marshall --- story about a city college baseball player who really loves the game, but just doesn't have the skills. Steve Zahn plays the coach and from the first scene he's in it, it just gives you another reason to really like Zahn. Great story. Some comedic moments. Overall, nice drama and a good message. One of those movies you wouldn't mind watching with the guys or with your woman.

Goin' South w/ Nicholson, Steenburgen, Christopher Lloyd, Danny DeVito and a great support job by John Belushi! This is a classic! Must see.

Not really a trailer, but an early scene. Not too much of a spoiler here.....

          Bram Stokers Dracula- 8.7

Watched it for the first time today. Very interesting movie. Loved Dracula's back story but a lot of the first half of the movie was interesting to say the least. I understood what was trying to be conveyed, but it was still some what awkward.

For a movie made in 1992 , Dracula in his demonic form looked good, special effects are definitely dated but hold up somewhat. A lot of the scenes towards the end look beautiful. It sort of reminded me a lot of Castlevania

Yeah, that Dracula movie is a little weird at times (ie: the garden sex scene). You should check out Nosferatu and then Dracula.

Finally saw The Wrestler. I didn't love it, nor did I hate it, it was just sort of "meh". I really tire of the stripper with a heart of gold stuff, the daughter storyline could have been fleshed out more, and the ending was telegraphed a mile away.

Still, that story reminded me of the Mick Foley books, and knowing the torture that those guys put their bodies through just for the "pop" of the crowd is nuts. All the wrestler deaths of late really emphasize that point, but since it's "fake" it doesn't get the coverage that the health issues that former football players experience does, which is a shame.

I liked it, but I'm a sucker for super heroes.

It certainly didn't have the same charm the first one did. I thought Justin Hammer was absolutely awful, and Samuel L. Jackson playing his one-and-only role didn't exactly add much in the way of substance either.

Cheadle didn't disappoint though, that was a positive change over the first.

Yesterday I watched an interesting adaptation of a Robert Louis Stevenson novel in Trouble for Two (1936) which starred Robert Montgomery, Rosalind Russell and Frank Morgan with a great scene chewing part by Reginald Owen.

The movie is based on the book THE SUICIDE CLUB. Anyways here's the plot summary courtesy of IMDB:

The Crown Prince is to marry the Princess Brenda of Irania, but the Princess declines the arranged marriage. Relieved, Florizel heads for London, with the Colonel, where he seeks adventure and a good time. Talking with a stranger, he learns that there is a private club called the Suicide Club. Taking this to be a ruse or a trick, he joins in and sees a mysterious Lady that he has meet once before on his way to London. He will find that this club may not be a ruse and that the cold dark stare of this Lady might cost him dearly.
There's a great mix of intrigue, mystery and light comedy to the film and it moves pretty briskly which keeps the viewer on their toes. I really liked how authentic it was as the actors spoke in Victorian English or a reasonable facsimile of it. (with the exception of Morgan which drew me out of the time period the movie's set in at times) Reg Owen is fantastic in his villain role and while it's a bit over the top it isn't in "Muahahahaha" territory. The script needed just a tad bit tightening up but other then that it's quite well done.

I give this 3 stars easily.

Watched Get Him to the Greek last night.

Was a bit disappointed overall. It had some funny moments but not as many as i thought it would. Overall a pretty solid comedy but i wouldn't watch it again. 6.5/10.

Over the last couple days, have watched...

The Crazies - decent disaster/horror, probably wouldn't bother to rewatch but was alright the first go-around.

Robin Hood - meh, not bad, but no where near the e-word it could/should have been for the 2 1/2 hours invested into it. Very little interest to ever see it again.

Splice - strange, interesting, weird, with quite a few "WTF" moments, still don't know quite what to make of it overall.

                                Kick-*** - appropriately titled.

Predators - better than I expected, a solid action flick. I wouldn't go out of my way to rewatch it, but it's the kind of movie I'll likely watch multiple times when it comes on cable in the future.
