Finally got to see it and its fantastic, definitely one of my favorite movies of the year. Its the best cgi ever, i honestly felt like i was watching real talking apes lol. Avatar doesn't touch this movie.

Caesar was fantastic. One of the best characters of the year. Its one of those few movies where you aren't sure which side to agree with. I was torn and seen all the points.
On this note, my sister is not a fan of apes in general and I really want her to see this movie (because I love it), but I'm not a big fan of Rise of the Planet of the Apes and I think aside from maybe the first half-hour, the entire movie might turn her off from seeing Dawn.

Did anybody here on OS see Dawn without seeing Rise, and still completely understand/appreciate/enjoy it? I know that the first couple of minutes of Dawn set you up for where you're at, but hearing the apes talk for the first time or totally seeing where they were at (or even connecting some parts to Rise from this film) will feel a bit out of place. Because I really think she'll like Dawn, but I don't think she'll much care for Rise.

Dawn is the only recent Apes movie I've seen, and I didn't have any trouble following it.

Now watching Dr Seuss's "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" on ABC Family. Taylor Momsen is so cute in this movie. She was Cindy Lou Who. A 7 year old. I noticed in the original cartoon version she was only 2 years old.

I guess I didn't get the persona of Gyllenhall that was portrayed in the movie from the trailer. But I agree.... wasn't sure of the point other than to demonstrate yet another way someone can be twisted.

I guess I'd like to see him in more roles where he demonstrates valor.

By this weekend, I plan to watch "Frozen". I love that movie. Such an adorable kids' movie that can be viewed around Christmas. Even though its not intended to be a Christmas movie, I do tend to watch it. The box office on this movie has been an amazing amount. It has grossed about $1.3 billion.

I've never gotten the attraction and mass-hysteria over Frozen.

Well, its an adorable movie about sister love. I think anyone can relate to that. I think that's why its so popular.

Fell off after the first half hour, IMO.

Also would have been better as a hand-drawn movie as opposed to computer animation.

I have to laugh at the people were comparing this to Lion King as far as Disney classics go. Not even close. As mentioned earlier, the first 30 minutes or so were good, then it tailed off big time.

I enjoyed it, but I still prefer some of the Disney/Pixar classics like Lion King, Toy Story, Monster's Inc, Finding Nemo, etc. more, and also probably liked Shrek and Madagascar more.

I even enjoyed Brave a lot more than Frozen which seems to fly under the radar.
