Saw Get Out. One of the best movies I've seen in a long, long time.

Same. Saw it a second time last night.

I'm not a horror fan by any means but this is one of the better movies I've seen recently and there's a lot of layers to digest. We probably can't discuss it in depth here though.

One of the most pleasant surprises I have ever experienced as movie-goer. Jordan Peele blew me away with his directing. The performances are all great. I wanted to post about the movie a week ago but I wasn't sure how to tip-toe around the extremely clever social commentary in this movie without violating TOS. I guess it is safe to say there is definitely a lot being said in this film, sometimes you need to read between the lines and sometimes it's clear as day. Sometimes it almost takes a reverse approach that you would expect to still send the same message you expected. Some scenes are extremely satisfying. Whole theater reacted vocally at one point

Very clever film. Can't wait to see what Peele does next. I heard he has more ideas for drama/thrillers.

For those who worry about jump scares, I would say it is pretty mild. There are just 3 or 4 that I remember

When the police car door opens and it reads Airport...that was one of the best theater reactions I can remember. So many people were so damn happy to see that. Huge applause and excitement. Can't remember the last time that happened.

Started watching Guardians Of The Galaxy & didn't like it at all so stopped it. It's just to childish for me. I didn't care about any of the characters or the world they were in.

Nocturnal Animals. The opening scene was disgusting and the movie was pretty terrible. The book wasn't much better so I should have known better.

Nearly anything I'd have to discuss would be spoiler-based, but I dug it.

I think the most impressive part of the film was the sound stage. Perfect use of sound from the very beginning, from the music to the effects, the mixing, the silent aspects... every moment. Much like Stephen Root's character's admiration for Chris's eye in photography, somebody in that crew (have to give a nod to Peele as well) has a real gift for capturing what we should be hearing, when, and in what form.

The next most impressive aspect is how much didn't need to be said, but for the audience to be able to piece together past moments of the film and bring them forward to the present moment(s). Too many movies spoon-feed their audiences. This one doesn't bother to once, at least not through dialogue. Thank goodness. Playing the film back in your head makes the earlier moments even sweeter as a result.

Even with the tight narrative, the film itself still left me with far too many questions (for lack of revelation), all of which I'm sure are either intentionally left unanswered or I was too stupid to comprehend. Nevertheless, I thought it was going to be a deeper exploration into the entire world that it built, or the concepts around the world that we saw, but in the end it was pretty shallow in that aspect. To-the-point, that is. Many other undertones though, but I don't need to talk about any of that. That being said, I'll only type a few questions here... some are story-based, others are maybe a little more nitpicky in that I should just accept what the film was going for:

- I understand how the deer thing connects to his past, but can anyone explain how it flew out like a missile? That wasn't just any random deer prancing across an interstate. Mother****** launched.

- What need does Jeremy have to abduct individuals? Does that happen when Rose is unable to seduce them to her parents' house? Did she ever try with Andre as well? He just seemed like a random guy from Brooklyn.

- Why the two-way mirror?

- What made Georgina break through the cracks a couple of times that wasn't a flash? I believe one time was when she saw Jeremy, and another time was when Chris spoke of being overcrowded by a bunch of white people. I guess that can help rise you from the trance a little bit.

- I'm guessing since Andre was only missing for six months, they don't actually meet up on a particular anniversary date, but rather whenever Rose can bring some poor sap over, yeh? A once-a-year thing would have probably been a more interesting ritual.

- What's up with the cops not following a missing person lead? It's one thing to buy into his sex-slave theory, but that tip is plenty enough to go on. If they say "case solved" on Andre, they probably have to be a bit more proactive than say, "Oh look, he's good and healthy, yay." Wait... were the police brainwashed and set free to help cover the Armitage's tracks?

- I have one possible answer for this, but why did Walter kill himself? Basically, how "free" is he now?

- As relieved as I was to see that Rod was the one in the police car, I can't help but think any other officer would have sufficed as well. I mean, clearly the officer at the deer hit scene wasn't in cahoots with this family, though he did possibly have other ulterior motives of his own based on his actions. Before I was sitting and thinking it would be problematic if it was somebody else, but after thinking about it... it might not have really mattered who picked him up (unless Rose picks up the gun as the officer cuffs him, and shoots them both). Or am I missing something?

(by the way, before anyone responds to that one I want to make sure you guys aren't missing anything either... no matter what, there will be an investigation, whether he is cuffed or uncuffed... in my opinion, what will happen will happen regardless of who came, unless someone was shot then and there)

- Any reason to believe Rose was hypnotized and controlled? Very doubtful, but given the film ended there, it does provide you with that little bit of doubt (though it wouldn't really fit with the commentary, but still). Should have they left her? At least take her to a hospital, in cuffs no less?

One more thing that irritates me after having seen it:

Thankfully the trailer only left an imprint on me by how fascinating it was rather than what was actually on it, because after I rewatched it holy hell they give away every little part except the resolution! I wouldn't mind that being the trailer if there was only so much more between the lines that we wouldn't no, but hell no... everything was revealed. How very ironic considering there is a Key & Peele skit on spoilers.

There is a reddit thread discussing how there are no holes in the story and that everyone is explained directly or indirectly at some point in the film. Worth a read if you feel like checking it out. I don't recall all the little details people mentioned but there were quite a few things I missed during my viewing that made me go "ohhhhhhhh, nice touch" when reading about it.

My memory sucks but wasn't it the tea cup being tapped, it triggered what remained of the old self to activate as that was how she was hypnotized to begin with? I'm thinking of the scene where she overfills the glass. Maybe it was the original self's remains were stronger than others.

Yes, I took it as she brings them home as soon as it is feels naturally right/comfortable at that stage of the relationship

I think this is one of the great greats. I was talking to my friends, comparing the first one to the sequels, and I just said that Iron Man has some classiness, some heart and sincerity mixed in with the humor and action, that the sequels don't.

The Inferno with Tom Hanks, PS+ have it for 50 cents this weekend. Very good movie.
