Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Not really, I just forgot to leave impressions of a lot of films. For example, I think I said I saw Deepwater Horizon three or four weeks ago. I mean I think I've seen Dunkirk four times since seeing that film haha.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
The Deathlok stuff, is that a rumor or just something you're hoping? Because Agents of Shield hasn't even had Deathlok in the show in who knows how long and I don't believe he has really been so relevant in the show since S1(despite his character looking like he'd be a main character of the series in the pilot episode).Comment

Wonder Woman. Finally saw this. Best super hero movie of the summer, imho. Not much I would change.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I hope the new Spiderman is good because I didn't even bother with the previous one. Though this one having him as a younger kid and Aunt May being a younger aunt too will make this one feel different. Will be tough to top the early 00s one though since it did have a nice cast all around and real great costume design.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Finally watched Get Out. Definitely a top 5 thriller movie for me. I figured out the "twist" right before it happened in the movie, but man the first half was really intense. The acting all around was so good and the camera-work was really well done.Comment

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
While it ended up being pretty good, as a whole it was a bit of a mixed bag. On the one hand, while watching it I just didn't feel much like it was bringing something new and awe-inspiring, though on the other hand the worlds were beautiful (though some CGI really was just bad), and the soundtrack absolutely maintained its glory, so I think it still breathed a bit of fresh air for me.
It wasn't until I was hitting the end of the movie that I realized this entire story was about relationships, and they really highlighted it. I mean they really did. Most of these summer blockbusters wouldn't spend the time to slow down at the end like they did, and slowing down really did bring this thing up a whole notch, whether the moments were truly deserved or not.
The two places that I'm really iffy about are the villain and the comedy. I won't speak much about the villain because spoilers, but the comic relief was a bit off not because it was poor, but rather because it simply didn't need to be. They can't let an emotional moment, or an epic moment, or a disastrous moment go by without injecting some sort of humor into the scene. I think I realize that's kind of the intent of this movie and these offbeat heroes, especially how they play their humor differently than The Avengers would, but I could do without some of it. The other issue is every character thought things were funnier than they really were. They almost acted like a laughtrack for the film, particularly Drax.
The good news is that I like these characters. It's great how they're able to develop some of them, and then completely alter others (such as Baby Groot, who was a-freakin'-dorable). They're kind of like The Hangover characters in that they make the film work no matter the situation they're in, and they could just be having conversations or arguments and it would entertain me.
There were so many after-credits scenes, some as Easter eggs and others as setups for future films, that I don't really know what many of them mean. The credits themselves were nicely done though. Kept me wanting to watch them. I wonder how well they will integrate with everybody else for Infinity War.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Split
Absolutely phenomenal performance for McAvoy. If he isn't nominated for something for this role, then that would only help prove what people think about Hollyweird. His switching up of characters on the fly was flawless. The main female lead was quite good as well. MNS may have gotten back on track. He insists on thinking he's Hitchcock and has to insert himself into a minor role, but it was inconsequential in this one.
Great story and great ending.Last edited by daflyboys; 09-02-2017, 06:58 PM.Comment

'Senna'
Absolutely remarkable film/documentary about one of, if not the greatest F1 drivers ever. The best word to describe watching this is it was a 'profound' experience. You really get to know this young man coming up in go-karts, and then his astounding run in F1 in the 80's and early 90's.
The footage used and the way this film was put together so well you literally just feel like you are a part of what's going on rather than watching a film.
Like 'Rush', you don't have to know or even have watched F1 racing to love this film. Five out of five stars. This film is in my personal top 10.GO 'HAWKS!

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
The conjuring 2. Not as good as the first, but still a good frightening movie.
I'm actually in the process of watching Dead Silence for the 2nd time. Knowing the ending, it's very well telegraphed if anyone knows what I mean.Comment

The fight at the beginning with the women against the Germans was a little confusing. Gal Gadot is amazing though.Comment

Pirates - Dead Men Tell No Tales
Visually impressive, but I was actually done after #1 which I thought was stellar and unique. Depp as Sparrow I thought was highly played out. I thought the actor who played Henry Turner, Will's son, looked like he could be Colin Farrell's son in real life.
