Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
Justice League: Crisis on two Earths 8.0
Not as good as some of the other D.C animated movies, but still blows Planet Hulk out the water. The ending segments were very interesting. I would of loved to see more of Batman and Owlman.
Can't wait for the next D.C movieComment

Invictus
Amazing movie, in my opinion. Freeman continues to cement himself as one of the greatest actors of all time and Damon as one of the greatest current actors. Just all around kick-***.
Also had one or two of the best "feel-good" kind of scenes I've seen in a long time. An absolute must-watch.Comment

The Vicious Kind.
Damn good movie. I swear, just about every single indy i've seen this year has been better than anything produced by a major Hollywood studio.
And Brittany Snow with short black hair. Amazing.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
As someone whose hobby it is to see every film ever with Morgan Freeman, I was obligated to see Along Came a Spider, which I found predictable and lacking on suspense. . .which is a problem, considering it's a suspense film. 6/10.Comment

I really hope i'm the only person that's sit through that trainwreck. Nobody else deserves to see 2 hours of their life so completely and totally wasted.
(And if you both saw it and liked it, i'm sorry about laying into it just now.)

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
The Sunshine Boys (1975)
I've seen this movie a couple times but haven't seen it in a while. This is the movie that launched the George Burns to true stardom. Incidentally he might've never gotten that shot if his closest friend in life Jack Benny hadn't died as Benny was slated to play the Al Lewis part. Anywho here's the summary:
Al Lewis and Willy Clark were once a popular vaudeville comedy team called Lewis and Clark, also known as The Sunshine Boys. After forty-three years as a team, they parted company over eleven years prior on not too friendly terms as Willy wanted to continue his career whereas Al wanted to retire. They have not spoken since. Willy's nephew, Ben - a talent agent - has been trying to find acting jobs for his uncle since with little success as Willy's age and declining ability is showing. But a lucrative opportunity comes up when one of the major networks is producing and airing a special on the history of comedy, and want The Sunshine Boys to appear. Ben has to try and convince the comedy team to reunite for just this one gig. Ben has to try and manage the individual quirks and personalities of each of The Sunshine Boys while putting on a good face to the network that there is harmony within The Sunshine Boys comedy team. Ben also has to manage the lives of two men in the twilight of their lives
Al is a very slow guy but once with Willy it's like he's young again and they're constantly getting into fights. The thing about Al's slowness is that while funny is a bit uncomfortable to watch in today's context knowing about alzheimers and such. The scene where Clark's nephew Ben (played by Richard Benjamin) meets Al for the first time is a perfect example of this. They'd talk about something and then Al wouldn't know what they're really talking about then he'd repeat everything Ben told him.
The dynamic between Mathau and Burns is just great and the whole scene where they rehearse their old doctor sketch is a hoot. Strangely enough when they do the runthrough for the studio the actual skit is quite a bore except for the buxom nurse played by Lee Meredith. (best known in her role as the ditzy secretary of Zero Mostel in The Producers) The movie does have a lot of heart to it though at the very end and the ending lended itself to a sequel. I'm betting if the movie had been made ten years later a sequel would've been made.
Watch this film to see the hijinks of Mathau and Burns and look out near the end of the film as the lady who plays mother Winslow on Family Matters has a small part!
I give this 3 out of 5 stars. It kinda drags at certain points but Mathau and Burns makes up for it immensely.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
