I actually understand not liking exposition (like myself) and liking Nolan (like myself). In other movies I go "that's nice big chunk of exposition you just dropped there sir", with Nolan it feels like something it needs/should be explained. I mean, without exposition/explaining the rules Inception becomes unintelligible

Unintelligible is a strong word, lets say much more difficult to understand, for a that film that people have a hard time keeping up as it is.

His films have game characteristics (Inception, Interstellar, Tenet) and I don't like playing games if I don't know the rules so maybe that's why Nolan gets a pass from me.

But I'm sure he is at least aware of his critics, Dunkirk has few dialogue and it is more of a straight up visual experience.

You’re missing out on some of the greatest performances anyone has ever done.

You’ll see why people miss Robin so much if you give it a chance. He’s way more than a comedian, he goes straight to the heart and stays there.

                GOOOOOOOOOD MORNING VIEEEETNAM!

I love Robin Williams. I thought everyone was forced to watch Dead Poet's Society in High School because every Lit/English teacher I had between 8-12 grade made it part of the curriculum.

Lol same here. Inspiring film though.

Lotta good memories watching Good Morning Vietnam with my dad when we caught it on. One of my favorite performances by him tbh, Forest Whitaker is also great in it.

I thought about mentioning Hook, but nostalgia is tied to that movie something fierce. I'm not sure how someone who didn't grow up watching the movie would appreciate it especially if they aren't familiar with the cast.

Going to see The Forever Purge tonight. First time going to the theater since pre-pandemic.

Can’t wait to get a big coke icee and a large tub of popcorn (no butter lol).

It was awful. I didn't really have have much in the way of expectation, but it was bad. There were a few funny moments, but those were the only redeeming moments.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

I heard people mention it months ago, but never got around to it.

                            I watched Soul.

Not some huge movie feel like an Incredibles or Toy Story or any of that, but this movie was deep, especially the ending.

It might be a "kids movie", but it really feels like the movie better understood by an older audience.

People can say what they want about "kids movies", but every now and then you need those feel good movies/stories with happy endings.

I echo this review. I enjoyed the book very much, but that movie, ugh! BTW, Ready Player Two wasn't too bad, imo.

I actually enjoyed Ready Player One.....though it was far too light on the Rush references in the book. Loved the book BTW.

Ready Player Two I need to pick up and read. And the movie adaption is already in the works.

Meantime....I really enjoyed The Forever Purge. Heavy heavy on the political commentary of course.....but art imitates life as we all know. It was a non stop action fest with excellent acting and a very intense plot. I am a big fan of The Purge series (loved both seasons of the FX series as well). I would rank them this way:

                                1. Purge Anarchy
                                2. Purge Election Year
                                3. The Forever Purge
                                4. The Purge
                                5. The First Purge
