Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I guess reviewers got it wrong then, since it’s 92% on RT

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I still need to see Shang Chi in full, but it won't be a surprise for me to provide it a fresh tomato. But that's just the thing... 92% means that 92% of critics liked it, not that they rate it a 92% average. So they may have just liked it enough, and the MCU is not easy to displease critics...
... At least, not until Eternals. A movie I also unfortunately fell asleep to off and on (once again not the fault of the film). I'll explain that one later when I give that movie another look, but I'm angry at myself for even trying to watch it when on very little rest since I don't get a full first experience.
EDIT: Well, just checked the mother! RT score again and it's at 68%. I could've sworn when I went to see it in theater it was in the 90% range, and I don't believe I'm wrong on that. Guess it came down to earth after more critics saw and reviewed it. Even still, worst movie I saw last decade (not for lack of competency).Last edited by Blzer; 11-24-2021, 10:20 AM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Pinocchio (2019) -we watched the English dubbed version on Amazon Prime last week and I'm still shookIt's an Italian adaption of the Disney classic and really interesting and well done outside of some head-scratching moments.... but looking back those almost make it more enduring.
The cinematography, acting, storytelling are all up there with Hollywood-level cinema. There are some cute heart-warming parts but the movie comes off as more disturbing and almost scary at times. I'm pretty sure that it's not appropriate for young children, well unless you enjoy freaking your kids out. It would have probably been cool to watch back in my high school and college days if you know what I meanMy 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I really don't care what reviewers have to say. I got my own two eyes. Fight scenes were well done CGI was nice the movie was pretty but the plot was sorely lacking. I like Leung and Yeoh but this movie did not do it for me.Comment

I'm not sure what he means, either. I know I swore by the film and he was underwhelmed by it. I guess he's saying that my recommendations are just that and not a guarantee for exploring further after trying once.
I just said "See Buried" because of Reynolds' performance (and I think Good Will Hunting came up because of Robin Williams), though I enjoy the movie as well.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Jane Eyre(2011) rewatch.
Mia Wasikowska is great, she carries the movie imho. Cary Joji Fukunaga is a solid director.
I love period pieces, especially ones set in Victorian England. Something about the time frame, the world, and style. Pride and Prejudice(2005), North and South, Mansfield Park, Bleak House, and many others. I wish there was more action stuff set in the time period though. Taboo, the recent Sherlock Holmes movies, The Duelists etc.Last edited by LambertandHam; 11-24-2021, 04:20 PM.Comment

I found Black Widow surprisingly entertaining, actually. I figured it'd be just a money grab by MCU but it was pretty good.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I’ve just watched Wonder Woman 1984. I’m disappointed, the first part (2017) was much cooler, more emotional and touching. The beginning of the film is incredibly prolonged, the plot, more or less, begins to spin only after 40 minutes. As for epic scenes, fights, etc., there will be ONLY THREE of them in all 2.5 hours! This is probably why I was very bored watching this film, so I wanted to press rewind in order to quickly start looking at something dynamic. The first significant and exciting event comes only after 80 minutes of the film !!! Therefore, I did not like it.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Saw Finch with Tom Hanks. He is always at least acceptable in his roles more than that actually. The general premise has been done before but the movie is still worth a watch. At least decent.Comment

I liked WW84 until the final hour, save one or two moments.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
