Re: What movies have you seen recently?
The Thing From Another World....
(the trailer also doesn't do it justice IMO)
Of course it's a different kind of action...
sorry...embedding is not working properly for me for some reason...

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Goh does have pretty normal taste in movies. His game meter is kind of wonky, though.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Just got back from seeing the movie, and wow was it good. I know not to doubt in Tarantino, he's writing and directing ability or bar none.
I kept hearing Leo and Waltz stole the movie, they certainly did, however Jamie was no slouch either; his performance was pretty good.
The movie was just the right length to really capitalize on everything that needed to happen.
SpoilerI will admit, I wanted Waltz's character to make it through the end as well as Leo's character. But stuff has to happen

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
It's easier to look at a movie trailer and determine it'll suck than it is for a game so bad times are more easily avoided. I can also be certain Liam Nesson isn't going to fall through the level and I'll have to load a save if I rent Taken 2 next week.Comment

I'm buying it. I liked it, but wasn't a fan of some of the ridiculousness of some scenes.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

...and Fat Amy makes it up in personality.
Yah I saw the comments about it being predictable and ridiculous. I don't think I actually watched the first one and have just seen endless parody of it.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Just saw Lincoln......
....and i'm blown away!
What a fantastic movie and yes, I guess i'm proven wrong about the 13th amendment stuff was indeed the thrust of the film but I didn't mind it because other things were put in there such as Lincoln's relationship with his wife and son. I thought the film did a magnificent job of placing the viewer in the reality of the times. It's sometimes hard to really comprehend the wheeling and dealing that it took to get the amendment passed when reading a book but seeing it on the screen is a whole other matter.
Daniel Day-Lewis was FANTASTIC as Lincoln and he definitely deserves the best actor nomination and I have a feeling it's gonna be a dogfight between him and Denzel in the voting. Day-Lewis was almost completely unrecognizable and fully immersed himself in the role. I like that the script chose to show all sides of Lincoln and not just the stoic portrayals of previous movies. We got to see the funnier side of Lincoln and the philosophical side. The viewer really gets to the inner workings of the man and his work to do the Moral Good.
I also have to mention Tommy Lee Jones as he was just as riveting on the screen as Day-Lewis was and it was definitely one of the better acting jobs i've seen from him in recent years.
This was an extremely well directed movie by Spielberg who I've felt may have lost a little on his fastball when it comes to direction. I thought that War Horse was very good but probably a bit overrated while this movie deserves the acclaim it gets. Spielberg set scenes up in wonderful ways and the the climax of the House vote was awesome film making iMO.
One last thing I want to say is that this movie is a bit of a throwback in some ways with the way it told the story. It was reverent to the material the way it would've been done in Golden Age Hollywood but thanks to the way movies are made these days it also showed the more "questionable" things. This movie painted a picture of a man who would do most anything for what he believed to be the greater good.
