I think For Your Eyes Only is ranked highly because at the time it was seen as a return to a more serious tone compared to Moonraker and other Moore Bond films. Watching it now it doesn't quite have that effect, but I still enjoy it.

It feels like there are so many examples of the series moving in one direction and then back to the other in terms of the campiness and seriousness. The Living Daylights compared to A View To A Kill, Golden Eye compared to License To Kill, Casino Royale compared to the last Brosnan one, etc.

I've always thought the best ones post-Connery were the ones that balanced the two. The Spy Who Loved Me and both Dalton films being some of my favorites.

Grace Jones is badass, both as May Day and in real life. Still enjoy FYEO.

I think The Living Daylights and License to Kill are underrated when it comes to Bond movies in general imho. License to Kill's tone is darker but has enough Bond goofiness added in, also Carey Lowell and Robert Davi are solid.

Malignant is easily one of the most bat****, insane movies I've seen in a very, very long time. I've never had an interest in watching Italian Galileo films, but maybe this crazy ****ing movie has changed my mind.

        I give it a 7/10

Malignant was an 8 out of 10 for me. Very good movie, the ending was kind of goofy though.

I liked it better on my second watch (Malignant)

Wan was finding his inner Cronenberg. Heavy 80’s influence all over this film.

            Insane final act.......just insane.

What movies have you seen recently?

I tried to watch a 10:15 showing of Shang-Chi tonight (which really means 10:35 with previews), and it was just a mistake to try.

My mind was ready but my body wasn’t. Slept five hours the night before, waking up at 4:30 AM and working most of the day plus some safe social events. I pretty much slept through most of the movie after the first half hour, catching glimpses in between.

Weird that the theater played the movie really quietly, despite the previews before them being normally loud. I’ll definitely watch it properly soon enough. Sad that I couldn’t get it all in one take though.

Of course, as it works, I’m wide awake now. Going to go home and watch another movie lol.

The same thing has happened to me on occasion at the movies too.

In particular when I saw Ex Machina and Midsommar. Both which are good slow burn Thrillers, but I should've been more energized before viewing. [emoji38]

Gonna watch Shang-Chi once it hits Disney+.

Best week in the Bondathon is over, and I've found my favorite 3peat.

The Living Daylights (4/5), Licence to Kill (4.5/5), Goldeneye (4/5)

                  Spoiler

                  A Bug's Life 3/5

Ever watch a movie that you remember seeing as a kid and then understand yourself a little better afterwards?

"It's a bug eat bug world princess, one of those circle of life type things. The sun grows the food, the ants pick the food, and the grasshoppers eat the food." Hopper

"You let one ant stand up to us, then they all might stand up to us. Those puny little ants outnumber us 100 to 1, and if they ever figure that out there goes our way of life. It's not about food, it's about keeping those ants in line." Hopper

So yeah, good children's movie. And the rain animation is super cool, it's like Dunkirk for bugs. Shout out to Comrade Flik, **** the bosses and the grasshoppers.

                    The Craft

That time of the year. As many times as I know Fox had this movie playing on TV as a kid I've never watched the actual movie.

Fun movie for the most part. Definitely not breaking any molds or bringing much to the table outside of it's dated 90s charm and at times hokey homages to 70s and early 80s horror films with no budgets. Basically this feels like the precursor to The Charmed series without the hotness of Alyssa Milano.

Fairly basic and straightforward "new kid and mean girls" narrative.

I'm not sure what it is, but as a kid Neve Campbell always hit that nerve with me. Maybe it's the biting lip thing she does, but she works it here in the second half of the movie. Nancy (Fairuza Balk) is the MVP of the movie. New kid Robin Tunney made me think of Gilmore Girls the whole damn time. And this is yet another 90s movie that includes a black girl as one of the main friends, but gives her barely any dialogue or any role of consequence.

If you like witches, 90s alt rock, and teenage female empowerment this is your jam.

As an aside I want to watch either all the Freddy movies or Jason movies. What say you, OS?

Just watched The Amazing Spiderman (2012) for the first time and I liked it a lot. I really enjoyed the different take on Peter Parker and I see why each of the 3 Spidermans have their own fanbases that think they're each the best Spiderman.

It was especially fun(ny) to watch right after watching the Tobey Maguire Spiderman because my God the special effects have aged terribly lol.

I dunno, it looked great on my Oled. It's funny how much better the special effects keep getting and how poorly so much of the old CGI has aged. I don't recall anything too unrealistic in Amazing. We'll see how the 2nd one holds up.

I've only seen it once, but it just felt too clean and polished with the abundance of random CGI.

This leads to my "Uncommon Opinion" that Spider-Man: Far From Home has the best visual effects in the franchise since Spider-Man 3. TASM 1, TASM 2, and SM:H are all inferior to SM3, in my opinion.

Same goes for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom besting Jurassic Park III and Jurassic World in visuals, in my opinion. The Lost World: Jurassic Park was the best looking until Fallen Kingdom came out (and I think that Fallen Kingdom looks worse until they get off the island).

I always enjoyed the Craft.....nice underrated late 90’s teen angst flick with a good story.

As far as Freddy and Jason. Watch them both!! Here are the essential’s of both those series IMO
