Re: Rock and Metal Fans of OS

Anybody pick up the recently released Flight 666 from Iron Maiden? I caught the documentary and concert on Palladia and found it enjoyable, but mostly ho-hum. Great if you're fairly new to the band or just curious about how crazy the fans can get, but re-tread if you've seen it all before.

The CD is pretty awesome though, and I rank it ahead of Live After Death and Rock in Rio. For both of those albums, Bruce's voice sounded a bit shot but here he's in rare form. The only song he sounds strained on to me is "Rime of the Ancient Mariner." Helping this is the fact that each song was recorded at a different venue so if there was an off night for anyone in the band it's contained in one song vs 16. The setlist is great though and includes all of the tracks one would expect but also a couple rarities such as "Moon Child" and "Heaven Can Wait." I love the rendition of "Wasted Years" with Adrian Smith on back-up vocals and "Can I Play With Madness" comes off well despite normally being a song that doesn't sound great live. It's close to 2 hours of content and Amazon has it priced at around 14 bucks which is a solid, but it can be had for cheaper from market place sellers. It's definitely worth checking out if you like live material and want the best live album Iron Maiden has ever put together. Considering the band has done about a half dozen or so live albums I can't blame anyone for passing though.
