    Re: Favorite Guitar Solos

    Glad this was rejuvenated.

I went to see Rush near July 4th with our son and it was all Rush. One of the songs I listed earlier in the thread was La Villa Strangiato. They played it that night and nailed it.

Alex Lifeson shreds the lead guitar in most of the song. It also shows off the talents of Neil Peart on drums and Geddy Lee's bass. For you non-Rush fans, this is an instrumental, no singing by Geddy.

Anyway, I purchased the latest Rush documentary and some bands are featured in the documentary talking about Rush and La Villa Strangiato. Mike Portney mentioned that bands usually say they can play YYZ(another instrumental on Moving Pictures with Tom Sawyer), but they can't play La Villa Strangiato because it's very difficult and complex with different time changes.

Here it is, it's about 10 minutes in length. Let me know what you think, this is probably around 1979.

Del La Rocha is one of my all time favorite rappers. I do like his voice in that acoustic clip but man, on that last RATM album where he sang most of the music instead of rapping it, it was just awful. I don't know if his voice has deteriorated or if it was just how that CD was mixed but it took everything I could just to listen to that CD several times to "give it a chance". Even in that acoustic video his singing voice is only average. But as a rapper he's got a spectacular voice that exhibits anger and power unlike anyone else, save maybe Korn's lead singer. Just my opinion.
