The greatest entertainer music has ever seen.
R.I.P.I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Than the one who comes up like an angel and is nothing but a devil. - Malcolm XComment

Re: Michael Jackson has passed away
greatest artist of all time is dead... this saddens me deeply. He was the first musical artist I ever liked (from a young age) and his passing will affect me for long time to come. This is surreal...http://www.myspace.com/phillthegenesis

Re: Michael Jackson has passed away
Still in shock. I walked in the barber's office when the news first started trickling in that he might've passed; none of it seemed really real. I grew up on the Jackson 5 (people should checkout Youtube for some of their early performances). Still remember how much of a moment it was when he moonwalked on the Motown 25 special. Remember how much of an event the Thriller video was on tv. Staggering to think how much he influenced music, and pop culture period. The Making of Thriller was the first vhs tape I ever purchased - and I brought it before I even had a vhs machine. Back when I still wasn't sure whether to get a vhs or betamax lol. He was truly unique; hard to imagine anyone coming anywhere near close to his status ever again. RIP MichaelHBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

Re: Michael Jackson has passed away
When they confirmed the news man, I was just...speechless. I still am really. My wife and I just spent an hour or so talking about it. For us, for me anyway, Michael Jackson was HUGE. When I hear the word "pop" I think of the king of it.
I remember back when I was in the 1st grade and singles from Thriller were still on the charts (1984 I think), one of my friends came to school one day with a tablet that had the Thriller pic as the cover. I wanted that tablet sooo bad lol. I thought Michael Jackson was the coolest dude on the planet, and he was. I drew alot, so I convinced my friend to let me borrow the tablet and I'd draw a picture for him. He agreed and God help me he never saw that tablet again.
One reason for that was because I had no intentions of giving it back. I was going to draw the picture for him of course, but I was thinking of a way to keep it for myself. The other reason is because a day or so after he let me borrow it, our house caught on fire. It was only us kids at the house at the time, we were being watched by my oldest sister. As we stood outside watching the flames spread, I remembered the tablet and my cousin's two books on dinosaurs that he had just bought from the book fair that day.
A side note, I remember I was always jealous of my cousin back then because his mom could afford to spoil him with MJ gear. He had the red zipper jacket, he had the doll, and he had the socks with the rinestones or whatever they were. One thing I had though that he didn't was that I could actually do the Moonwalk lol.
Anyways, I remembered exactly where they were, because earlier I had been drawing a picture of a dinosaur from one of those books IN the Michael Jackson tablet. They were sitting on the kitchen table and it didn't look like the fire had gotten to the kitchen yet. I tried to run back in, just to save that stuff. Of all the things that I could have wanted to save, my toys, pictures, the money my mom used to stash under her mattress, I only wanted those books, and the Michael Jackson "Thriller" notebook.
Mt sister grabbed me before I could make it in, and I started crying. Not because I wouldn't have shelter for the night, but because I wouldn't have that stuff anymore.
The impact Michael Jackson had really just can't be put into words. I can't think of a person save Jesus who is more popular in today's world, the man was just that big. He's definitely going to be missed. Besides Pac, I can't think of a celebrity who's passing has affected me this way. It was sad for me to read about Bernie, and Isaac Hayes and Farrah Fawcett today but, man with Michael Jackson dying I feel like I am in mourning.PS: You guys are great.
