Typing in Thriller in youtube shows some very interesting results - nice to see that influence continue on today.

Michael Jackson was a modern day version of Amadeus Mozart. He, too, was a strange and mythical person, but his music was not like anything heard before at the time. Composers had trouble understanding the way he thought, and what he created.
Don't forget Quincy Jones. He helped Micheal with Off The Wall,Thriller, and Bad. They made some unforgettable hits together. Those two had one hell of a run.

      RIP.

I understand this feeling...but being born in '81 and Jackson being a comet of a star by the time I was 7/8...Every kid from my generation loved Michael, and that's not meant in some condescending way.

        RIP Michael Jackson.

I feel you, man... I wasn't at the point of tears, but it was definitely like a piece of your childhood has been taken away. I can't listen to any of the Thriller or Off the Wall albums without remembering my childhood. I was definitely misty eyed hearing the news.

Re: Michael Jackson has passed away

I guess this is probably the biggest death of my generation. I can remember as a child Michael Jackson being the biggest thing in the world. Every video of his was premiered in prime time and my whole family would gather in front of the tube and watch it. None of my family of four really went out of their way to listen to his music, but everything he did was just such a big deal. MTV would dedicated days to just running his videos over and over. It's a shame what followed with his legal problems, everything just came to a sudden stop. He bounced back briefly with "Scream" but it was never the same again. I am in shock.

I see CNN dusted off John Norris for one more Michael Jackson story. I remember when it seemed like he only did broadcasts from Neverland Ranch. Kind of like Pedro Gomez with Bonds.

Just got chills when I heard I'll Be There from the Jackson 5 on the radio.

                      Sad man.

Yeah I'm watching the CNN thing now. Larry King was carrying it and kicked it over to Anderson. They're going non-stop MJ. I still can't believe it though. You think a Michael Jackson is going to live forever. But you know that isn't true.

I was the Dodger game today when I was texted the news about Michael. I couldn't believe it and saw it confirmed on CNN. What a sad day. I remember as a child seeing his videos on MTV.

                          RIP Michael

I thought it was interesting how the news was saying that he apparently gives anything left of what he owns of the Beatles catalog to Paul McCartney in his will.
