Seriously tho, i said i dont listen to much, not i dont listen to music. Meaning, i dont care about stuff others do. I dont check out the newest music and i dont have the standards others do. The only reason i posted in the thread was to put in pepper and see how many people listen to them. Other than them, theres nothing i listen to consistantly enough to care about.
Damn dude I love Pepper, Give it up and Too Much are standouts but seriously almost every song kicks ***

Re: What are your favorite bands?

        Right now?

Propagandhi - One of the very few bands that gets better with every album IMO.
Octoberman - Great Canadian mellow stuff - GREAT songwriting
The Airborne Toxic Event - Amazing debut album. I can't stop listening to it.
Elvis Costello - Even though he can never top My Aim Is True from 1977, he stands the test of time. So glad I got to see him live in San Fran at an Oracle convention, of all places. He even had the original Imposters with him. Great.
Against Me! - Older stuff is amazing. Newer stuff, not so much, but decent. Screaming this stuff at basement shows in Duluth during college will be always be a great memory.
Bad Astronaut - Joey Cape's (from Lagwagon) greatest song writing IMO.
        Sufjan Stevens - A self-taught musical genius.
The Beatles - Shouldn't have to explain this.
Sublime - The one band that I regret never being able to see live.

But it changes as I get in moods. The Beatles and Sublime are probably always on the list.

EDIT: Oh, and I forgot The Weakerthans. They will always be on the list too.

Think Sublime but not quite as good. I like Pepper and hate that I compare them to Sublime. But it is what it is.

How great Sublime is really hurts bands that have come from the same cloth such as:

Starving Millionaires <---- (closest to capturing the spirit)
          Pepper
          Darth Vato
          Long Beach Dub All Stars
          Long Beach Short Bus

          etc.

They are all good and a couple even have members from Sublime. But they all miss that certain something. Bradley Nowell. RIP

                1. Streetlight Manifesto - Kalnoky comes up with some awesome arrangements for thier songs

                2. Anberlin - Awesome guitar riffs and great singer

                3. Incubus - Just an overall good band

                4. The Receiving End Of Sirens - Love the 3 vocalist thing that they have going

                5. Sublime - Just a great band
TREOS broke up over a year ago sadly. BTHATS is one of my favorite albums ever.

Good call on Incubus and Anberlin as well.

Thanks. I listened to some of their stuff and Sublime is exactly who came to mind. Not bad, but not someone I would get heavy into. Just wait for a Best Of.

For future reference, we have a "multi-quote" feature that you may want to look into.

As for the OP...in no order...

                    -Pink Floyd
                    -Minus the Bear
                    -Matchbox Twenty
                    -RX Bandits
                    -Eminem
                    -Shinedown

Ahhhh, multi-quote. I now feel like a fool, but it won't happen again. Thanks for pointing out the obvious for me...

Nice call on RX Bandits. I was more into them back in my younger years. Progress is a great album.

Hopefully that didn't come across as too "Do this or you'll get in trouble," because we're all guilty of the back-to-back posts every now and then. Just figured I'd let you know that we have a multi-quote option for future reference if you want to cut down on the clutter/whatever you want to call it.

And yeah, I didn't get into the Bandits until almost two years ago (or a few months after ...And the Battle Begun came out) and they're definitely one of my top bands.

                            All-Time
The White Stripes - Jack & Meg's chemistry is superb; the sexual innocence portrayed in a lot of the songs is fantastic.
Soundgarden - Chris's vocals are peerless when he was in his prime. I love Kim's riffs with their slow, brooding sludginess. Slaves & Bulldozers, FTW.
CCR - Fogerty's vocals are timeless and immediately give the lyrics a sense of genuineness. Catchy roots rock songs which tell great, introspective stories.
Neko Case - Absolutely amazing voice, definitey my favorite female vocalist. All her albums have been terrific.
Drive-By Truckers - Love their southern-hard rock style and their ability to tell amazing stories in their songs.
Elvis Presley - Its the King.

                            Recent Favorites
                            Ryan Bingham -
Vocals remind me of John Fogerty in that world-weary, road-travelin sense. Great voice, awesome texas-country songs.
Sly & the Family Stone - Excellent soul/funk music. Their songs have a pop appeal while still being progressive and having a deep message (and at times a bit dark).
The Doors - Jim Morrison's vocals and poetic lyrics, not to mention the blues-based instrumentation is automatic win.
Justin Townes Earle - Future of country music. Traditional country-based with a timeless voice.

Lodi is probably in my top 10 all-time.
