Last night's episode saved it from getting cancelled on my DVR. I watch entirely too many shows at it is. I'm waiting for one to disappoint me enough so that I can get rid of it and not have to worry about watching it.

I agree that this was the best of the season and felt the most like the old community. However, there were several times where the show fell back into "generic sitcom mode," most notable during the scene where Chan enters the study room and the entire group screams loudly in unison. And it also rang extremely false to me that the Dungeons and Dragons game would be used as an example of the group being selfish, since the only reason they played that game in the first place was to help out a fellow student. But I still laughed harder and with greater frequency this episode than I did with any other ep this season. Definitely a step in the right direction.

Interestingly, though, this was the 2nd episode of the season, but NBC held it back because they thought it was the weakest. I wonder if the guy who thought this was the worst episode is the same guy who thought NBC should remake Knight Rider.

That definitely felt like an episode of Community. I do miss the themed meta-homages as they don't seem to be nearly as heavy as the previous seasons.

But good lord Britta offering bratwurst. I have no idea what she said in that scene.

Solid episode.

I can handle The Dean in that magnitude. I hate when he's too involved in an episode. The Changnesia bits were pretty funny.

The subtle one liners hit a little harder in this episode too.

The interesting thing is that this episode was filmed 2nd. So we went from the premiere to this episode, to the ones that aired 2nd and 3rd. While it shows that the new showrunners can do a "Community-esque" episode; does it mean that they decided to abandon that style after the second episode? Next week we will see...

I think it more means that the network didn't think it was a strong episode, and wanted to put it on a night where the ratings were likely to dip anyway. And it's been either the worst or second worst episode so far by most critics (not that I agree).

I was mixed about this episode. I thought the show touched on some good issues (the annoying family, and the father abandonment). However, as a comedy I can't say I laughed during that whole episode.

By the way, Paleyfest panel this year was HILARIOUS. Some seemingly cut parts of History 101, Jim Rash being amazing, and Alison Brie workshopping a one act PSA about a boy smoking in the Industrial Revolution. I was laughing my head off.
