The bad news is Community has been cancelled. The good news is I'm almost done with NBC for good. Parks and Rec is all I have left. After that NBC can suck it!

Re: Community
The 2012-2013 season is officially over and the final network rankings are in. As was long expected, CBS took the top spot in viewers and the adults 18-49 demo, the first time the network has claimed a No. 1 ranking in both categories since the 1991-1992 season.
Edit: Turns out NBC finished last in the most recent sweeps as well: http://www.deadline.com/2013/02/nbc-...-to-univision/.
Admittedly, they were doing better last year in relation to other networks, but I'm interested in hearing where you got your info from. Any high ratings you have seen recently are strictly due to The Voice. Everything else about NBC has suffered greatly for a long time, as evidence of them keeping Hannibal alive (it had really, really low ratings). Most of my frustration with them right now is because of how much I loved Community, so they probably don't deserve the hate. Still, it's kind of an odd move considering the timing, no? The low ratings were probably a product of them trying to match it up against Big Bang for forever, too. That was never going to happen.
And sure, I buy that Community would have been canceled earlier, even on another network. But Community was also one of their most watched shows, as it was. They canceled it so they could run another bunch of sitcoms that will likely just be canceled after one season as it is. For those who follow TV, NBC has been known for the poor handling of their shows and unnecessarily shuffling new ones in, hence the frustration. I wouldn't even be upset about Community if I hadn't been burned by them numerous times before.
PS: Hulu is in talks to renew Community for a sixth season, according to Deadline.Last edited by BenGerman; 05-28-2014, 08:46 PM.Writer for Operation Sports

Re: Community
NBC will win the 2013-14 TV season in the demo for the first time in a decade with a 13% ratings spike - the biggest year-to-year gain for any Big 4 network in nine years.

Re: Community
You're right! My bad, Mo. I just looked it up, and NBC is doing much better this year. I can't find any specific ratings about this year (edit: see that you posted them), but I see they won the last two weeks. Though, my point still stands; Community was one of their better rated shows last year. At the very least, it faired just as well as Parks. Why cancel it now? Most of their popular stuff is either live or reality TV.
Anyway, the whole thing has just been oddly handled. How many years did it look like Community would be canceled, only to be canceled on the one year everyone thought it wouldn't be? Weird.
Here's the link about Community possibly being renewed by Hulu: http://www.deadline.com/2014/05/comm...-6-dan-harmon/Last edited by BenGerman; 05-28-2014, 09:00 PM.Writer for Operation Sports

Re: Community
It got the # of episodes needed for syndication, Sony owns it, and yes it was one of the better comedy ratings on NBC, but all of the comedies did bad on NBC.
NBC can try to improve on the ratings and maybe bring a show they own, so it would be cheaper. (not sure what NBC put in its time slot)Comment

Re: Community
It was time for it to go. The show improved last year, but it was not the same show it was a few years ago. Community didn't even do as well as The Crazy Ones, a show that didn't survive past one season. That might have had something to do with the NFL being televised next fall on Thursdays so they want to try and keep the schedule available, but still.
Claiming Community was one of NBC's higher rated shows is a stretch. A very long stretch considering NBC has The Blacklist, SVU, Chicago Fire.
Community couldn't even make the top 50.

It would probably fit much better on a Comedy Central, or TBS even.Comment

Re: Community
It's kinda amazing to me this show has gotten this far. The fanbase may be small, but it is certainly dedicated.
