Re: The Howard Stern Show Thread

Did anyone catch today's show, it was fantastic! I love when Howard discusses Eric the Midget and today was really the best of Eric I have heard. Eric the Midget has to be the most dillusional person alive, his list of demands for that show was hysterical.

It'll be interesting to see who/if they decide to bring on. It might make me jump back on board on a consistent basis.
Artie was awesome. Best part of that show.

That's a funny line about Feldman.

I never had heard the show until the E! Show started coming on nightly and I was friggin' hooked. I was around 13 at the time and I had never saw or heard anything like it.
Guys like Stuttering John, KC, the Wack Pack etc were just golden.

I know a lot of people disliked Artie in the chair, but he was great to me. I laughed all the time with him around, since he has left (i had stopped listening for a while as well) I don't find the show hardly funny at all. The guests are horrible, hardly any wack packers around anymore... just not much going on.

I still am entertained by it, but it's not like it used to be. in 2011 they need to get another comedian in the chair. They could have a different person sit in the chair like they did when Jackie left.. just get some fresh blood in there or bring Artie back, which I doubt will happen.
I agree with all of this.
Howard's okay, but they should do what Opie and Anthony do and bring in different comedians every day.
Bill Burr, Louis CK, Colin Quinn, etc. There's tonnes of great NY comedians that would help Howard's show.
But part of me wonders if Howard gets too jealous when someone's funnier than him - which is almost everyone in the room on any given day.

I don't have satellite radio, but a friend of mine does and records the show onto an MP3 and a few times let me listen. Just not that funny anymore.....

I equate it to a superstar athlete or actor----after they've accomplished all they set out to do, they taper off talent-wise.

Howard paved the way for other morning shows by pushing the envelope. But now, all these years later, it's old hearing him ask female guests to show their breasts.

Artie I thought brought new life into the show, but now he's probably gone forever....(from the show) And Jackie was always the great mind behind the classic bits.

I miss the old stuff, like the homeless game where the winner got a new shopping cart, lol.....

My personal opinion? Stern should call it a career. He sounds like he's trying too hard to recapture the magic that once made him great....

I'm not thrilled that he's going to be a new judge on AGT. The show will be moving to New York but I can't help but think this will cause him to cut back on his radio shows (he's already down to 3 shows a week excluding this month). This means we will also hear him talk a lot about AGT on the show (I have no interest in the show).

He should have listened to Al Michaels when he said the gig is below him. He doesn't need the money so I'm surprised he actually accepted the job offer.

Like everybody else, I miss Artie. Sure he got on my nerves sometimes but he was gold whenever they brought in a porn star/stripper/escort.

I still think Stern does the best interviews though.

Who knows if there's any truth to this, but I've heard on a few occassions that Howard is hurting for cash. I imagine 'hurting' is relative to everyone. Maybe he can only afford 3 homes now, or maybe he really does live paycheck-to-paycheck.

I'm wondering if he's getting tired of the morning grind. Howard, and several other morning show jocks, have all said that you never get used to waking up at 4am to do a morning show.
So maybe he's finally had enough? He's not getting any younger.

I had no idea he was only doing 3 shows a week. Sirius/XM pay him a tonne of cash. I wonder if they're happy with that reduced schedule?

There's no way Howard is hurting for cash. He's one of the highest paid "entertainers" in the world. He makes a lot but he rarely goes out.

He likes to complain about getting up early everyday but he could have let his contract run out and retire but he decided to sign a new deal. He's a huge reason why Sirius/XM is still up and running so I'm sure the beancounters had no problem with him cutting back to 3 days a week.

I finally got a chance to listen to the show where he made his AGT announcement and I was rolling when David Arquette's gf called in. She's a reporter and Howard asked her if she is fully shaved down below, lol.

I'm just worried the AGT gig will hurt his radio show.
