Good finale, only disappointment was that they gave away Dave winning in the episode preview. They showed him crying in the "diary" session and saying he couldn't believe it. When Dave didn't do that when he won the challenge, I already knew he won.

Re: Hell's Kitchen Season 6
Hell no, not after Danny had plastic fish and **** hanging in place last year.
Congrats to Dave, I feel for Kevin though. I was wondering why they didn't bring Tenielle back. Not that I missed her, but she was in the final 4.
I personally think that Kevin's menu was more complex and showed more skill and/or technique. But I think that Dave having watched this show before picked a menu that for lack of a better term was "hard to screw up", which is probably why he won, he took the possibility of his team screwing him up out of the equation, while Kevin was in the weeds from the first ticket.Moderator

Re: Hell's Kitchen Season 6
Good finale, glad that the best chef won. I was a little nervous that Kevin's performance last night put him over the top, but Dave was incredibly consistent on this show, service after service, and I can't remember Chef Ramsey yelling at him even once. One of the better performances in the history of the show, especially considering he did it with one arm for most of the time.
I too was disappointed that they didn't let them each design half of the restaurant, but I guess that's because the Araxi already exists and already has its own design that the winner of HK can't change. I also think Chef Ramsey was impressed by the simplicity of Dave's menu, as that's something that gets repeated a lot on this show and other shows like Kitchen Nightmares - you don't need a very elaborate and pretentious menu, you just need fresh, simple food cooked very well.Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.

Yeah I noticed this too, and it pissed me off watching the last half hour or so.Comment

Re: Hell's Kitchen Season 6
Didn't they play some reaction from each of them that could've gone either way? Obviously with Dave crying, it kinda tipped off he won, but I think they wanted us to think he could've been crying for a loss.Comment

Re: Hell's Kitchen Season 6
Nah, the way he conveyed the crying was of sense of joy. I figured it had to be at 3 points, one him getting to the final 2, him winning the challenge or winning it all. When the first 2 didn't show that diary scene, I knew he won it all.Comment

Re: Hell's Kitchen Season 6
Yea, it tipped it off to me too; just trying to figure what they were going for in the preview. Especially when Kevin's bland clip was something like "Oh my.." and then Dave crying.Comment

Re: Hell's Kitchen Season 6
That might of worked if Dave hadn't said how "stoked he was," in that piece.Comment

Yep, that completely ruined it for me as well.Comment

That's exactly why I don't watch previews. Seems like that crap always happens.Comment

Re: Hell's Kitchen Season 6
You want to see something strange...... watch last week's episode and you will hear Tennille say something along the lines of how she had no fine dining experience before she came to HK. Her Bio on the Fox website says she is an Executive Chef. How the hell does an "Executive Chef" not have any fine dining experience?
If they have an all-stars edition, Tennille better be on it. I LOVE SUSHI!!!!!Comment

Re: Hell's Kitchen Season 6
You can be an Executive Chef at a place that isn't doing fine dining. She is a Cajun chef I think, probably works as the main chef at a restaurant that doesn't qualify as "high end"... she wouldn't have seen nearly as much as these other people working as Sous Chefs in fine dining restaurants simply because Cajun food in pretty insular and doesn't generally involve fusion, etc. It wouldn't surprise me at all that even a very accomplished Cajun chef would know nothing about making risotto, for example. She went to Johnson and Wales and probably got some exposure to that stuff, but nowhere near what someone working with it every day would get.
I'm not totally sure about the Cajun thing, but she seemed to try and make Cajun-inspired dished whenever she had the chance, so I assumed that was her niche. Even if it isn't, she clearly didn't have much fine dining experience if she couldn't tell venison from lamb and stuff like that.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment
