LOL my biggest pet peeve personally is how the characters never interact properly. As an example, someone could like walk back into the camp with their leg missing and be like, anyone seen jack? Michael, after looking at dudes leg will be like, "Im just looking for my son, Waaaaaaaaalt".

Or like how Ben gets beat down and is like barely conscience and Jack starts talking about something random. Im sure there are better examples, but I find myself saying all the time why dont these characters talk to each other.

It was never that extreme in your first instance - and that was part of the character devices they were using. They wanted these strangers on an Island to be out for themselves and eventually come together to form a community. The whole first season was about "Live Together, Die Alone."

And Ben has always been like that. He is this cryptic mysterious person who always has a plan.

Wow, just read the full article, writers say they won't talk about the show after the finale. You know how this reads to me? This reads like they really didn't know what the heck the show was about and because of that they are not going to answer questions. Looks like we just had a big multi-year practical joke pulled on us. Is anyone else pretty angry about this but me????

When I first heard this I was angry, but now I think it makes more sense, and actually prefer it. The writer's have always said that they want Lost to stand alone as their story from beginning to end. Having them come out and explain things after the fact would be going against how they've talked about the show for the past year or so.

Look for me, this show has never disappointed me, I've literally enjoyed every episode that I've watched. If the ending turns out to be a huge disappointment it won't necessarily ruin the show for me. I was mad at how they ended the sopranos but I still can go back and watch episodes/seasons and find enjoyment. I guess I trust the writer's to wrap up the show in a way that, while not pleasing everyone, makes sense for the show. If I don't personally like that, that doesn't diminish the 6 years of entertainment I've got from the show.

I don't have an issue with them not answering every question by the time the show ends, because there are a million, I understand that. And I don't even have a problem with them actually not answering everything they're asked after the show ends. What I do have a problem with is this whole "once the show ends don't ever ask us any questions". Why? Because it just makes it appear, rightfully or not, that they are afraid of the questions that they should be able to answer being ones that they cannot answer.

It just really reeks of amateurism. Like if you wrote a mysterious story for class about time travel, dopplegangers, heaven and hell, etc, etc and had all this symbolism and supposedly deep meaning in the story but then when your teacher asked you questions you really couldn't answer any because it was all BS. Yeah, seems to me like that.

Do I regret watching the show? No because I have a very active imagination and shows like this, whether the writers really know what they're doing or not, can still be filled in by my imagination. I mean look at this thread, it just shows how much it can fire up people's imaginations...but it still seems to me like it's appearing as if a lot of this show was just people throwing ideas onto a paranormal dart board and saying "yeah let's go with that this week". More so in that than any clear cut wide ranging story.

Highly disappointing to hear this. Again maybe i'm just overreacting to this because of how it makes the writers look but I think it makes them look pretty clueless and with a lot to hide.

Not at all. The questions they aren't answering are leaving it open to our interpretation. What are they going to talk about afterwards that shouldn't already be answered? They're going to wrap the show up and make it stand on its own. I don't understand what we could ask them that we won't already know (besides minute details that aren't important to the central storyline).

And it goes back to what Soltrain mentioned about George Lucas. Once Lucas spilled every single detail about the Force and the Star Wars Universe, it became stupid, instead of mysterious and cool. I'm glad they're leaving Lost mysterious. Imagination is good!

I think the Flash Sideways are what their lives would have been like if Jacob never touched them and "guided" them to the Island.

Edit - But I guess that doesn't really make sense because Jacob didn't come to Jack until much later in Jack's life. Far after Jack would have had the kid - so really who the hell knows?!

Also, Didn't jacob come to Locke after he was dead from being thrown out the window? If Jacob had never touched him, he'd be dead. He was still in the wheelchair, so we are left to assume that in the sideways timeline that still happened. Of course, it could have happened a different way, who knows.

COOGR - you are assuming that the questions they aren't answering that they're leaving open to our interpretation are going to be minor ones and chances are they won't be. Before you're so comfortable with them not answering questions you should consider that there may be a lot of large, important questions that are 'left open to interpretation'.

I get it, you're being optimistic and I can understand that but I don't see how anyone could read this interview and be anything but very pessimistic about where this is heading.

Maybe all of your points are valid Odogg, but I tend to think that maybe your reactions are a bit premature. Not necesarrily an overreaction, but to be this upset before the finale airs is jumping the gun a bit.

Maybe the writers want the show to end with a bit of the mystery left unanswered, who knows? All I know is that it's hard to call them out and what they did or did not answer with a dozen episodes left to air, based on what an article from a third party says. Maybe they were misquoted in that story, maybe the author stretched a few things to get a more sensational story. Stranger things have happened when it comes to journalism lol.

Now If this season comes and goes, and some major things are left unanswered like you say and the article holds up, I'll be right there with you pissed as all hell, but until then it's all speculation really.

It depends on what they leave unanswered. The main thing I'm mad about is them saying they are running out of time. They set the schedule, they write the show, etc. They caused the issue and now are acting like they didn't.

Yeah to clarify my comments, this is one thing that anyone associated with lost has no right to use an excuse. If in fact the show ends and writers and producers do in fact not talk about the show except of word coming out from Cuse and Lindeloff that time was a factor, THEN they would start to lose credibility.

ASB37 - you're right, I shouldn't worry until the show is over. But it sounds to me that the writers are already setting themselves up for us all to be upset after the show is over. I think that's what bothers me most, the tone seems to be a pre-emptive strike to the audience that they recognize that we're going to be unhappy..and that's not a good thing.

Ha... I remember this same type of attitude before the Season 3 (or was it 4?) finale. "The writers don't know what they're doing... they're not answering questions..." Then BOOM! Flash forward is revealed and everyone is back on board.

I'm hoping we'll have more revelations such as that one. I love reading the reactions to them.
