This thread is pointless. Sorry guys. Newegg is an online retailer. They operate under a different contract (if any at all) regarding sales of Madden 10. It's basically purchase from EA then sell on their site.

Places like gamestop and other big box retailers have a specific license and terms of service and/or agreement on when to ship the game. They abide by these rules because EA either gives them the game at a discounted rate, ships it to them in substantial qualities, or (and most likely) give them free press/advertising mechanisms. All of which Newegg does not receive. If you want an example walk into your local Best Buy or Gamestop and look at all the Madden junk everywhere. That's all coming from EA.

Yeah, we're going to sue a company selling our game at full price. Smart idea.

Release dates are the worst thing for the industry to ever happen.

If EA wants to complain and whine then they can never sell to newegg again and newegg will not care. They are HUGE and will continue to beat out all of those big box stores on price and customer service.

No, I ordered from there, too, when I saw the thread. Should be there tonight when i get home. I just don't know how they got away with this.

If I'm Gamestop and I've spent my entire summer's advertising campaign on EA's game, I'm ticked off.

Yeah because I'm sure that gamestop is going to go out of business or lose any noticiable amount of money because Newegg sold the game early.

If that was the case, why would EA care? If NewEgg is a flea on a bug's butt, why would they be worth a "major lawsuit?" They certainly wouldn't cut into the revenue of a Gamestop, as you allege. You are contradicting yourself.

Its no longer on there website for anything other then PSP so I assume that means they sold out? Too bad, I was tempted to order when I saw this thread but cant now.

Gamestop could be ticked off, but I doubt they really care. Some people preorder from Newegg. Many, many people preorder from Gamestop.

Also, Gamestop issues preorders so they can forecast sales and order only the number of copies they need. They aren't being undercut if they already know how many copies they will sell.

Lastly, Gamestop isn't making their money from selling Madden 10. They'll eventually make their money from all those people that ordered from Newegg and sell the game to Gamestop.

So should Amazon then? Amazon ships the game with their release date delivery date but sometimes the UPS man comes earlier.

Doubt EA cares as they are sending it instead of giving it to you in hand. If it gets delivered to the buyer before the release date, bonus for the buyer.

Now NewEgg no longer shows Madden 10 on their site. Mine says "shipped", so i should see it tomorrow.

Learn to read; did I say that? I'm not complaining about it, but if I were the CEO of Gamestop, and I'd spent the money and time and advertising resources to sell the game according the rules set forth by EA, you'd bet I'd be complaining. I would sue EA, which in turn, could sue NewEgg if there was an agreement in place, which there likely is.

I have the game, but I don't have a dog in this fight.
